Weather or not you are willing to be on the short side of the deal, is entirely up to you, BUT.....

He should be willing to please you, in the same way you please him. Hell, he should be willing to please you, even if you don't go down on him. I honestly dont recall what I thought when I first went down on a woman. I dont remember if the smell or anything else "gave me pause". I do remember that I wanted more than anything else, to give her the sheer extacy she had just given me. I was even feeling guilty for not doing her first. I can tell you now tho, there is nothing else on this planet, that I would rather do. I go down on my wife 2 or 3 times a week, just for the sheer thrill of making her cum.
