Fasting for a day becomes easy once you are fat-adapted and not always depending on glucose. But anything more than 24 hours is crazy in my opinion, simply because if you're not getting protein, it isn't long before your body begins breaking down muscle. Plus going 19 days without food is almost literally like starving yourself to death. The hell with your muscles, eventually your body will begin to eat its own internal organs.
Ugh I hate blisters on my feet! I think it's half the reason I'm trying to give up shoes! I hope they don't hurt too much.
I think some people fast like that to "detox" or whatever. Like once your body isn't getting digested food out anymore it starts trying to get all the other bad stuff out. I don't really know the validity of that though. I personally need food to live.
They are sore and MASSIVE. I'll let them be today and just wear my flip flops, but I might have to pop them and bandage them up so I can wear other shoes for work tomorrow.
ok guys @rat and rollin a extended water fast is misunderstood by those who don't realize or contenplate the enormous benefits in doing it, which is why you may off the tip think it's starving yourself, so I understand your perspective... but in fact a prolonged water fast is one of the most healthy things a person can do to themselves, even the ancients knew this, and certainly all animals. it is not at all recommended if you want to keep your current gains. but if you want to have clean slate of health then a water fast is in order to move forward with a good foundation for better gains* I lost inches on my arms and lost 21 pounds of fat and lean mass...I was ok with this. my arms are now 15 inches and 16 will come in the next few months I will provide a brief overview of the fasting process for you to consider: it was a enlightening experience, only regret was not going a few extra days to hit 21.... edit: Ghandi did 21 days Jesus of Nazarth did 40 Moses the law giver did 40 as well
I'm not really knocking fasting as i've never done it myself, was just curious as to why. What benefits dod you experience, both mentally and physically?
Rollin Mentally it was really though to get past the first 4 days, you think about food so much and the your apprication for food while not having any is deep, though you are not really hungry. I remember telling my mom how lucky she was to be able to eat...I watched cooking shows on youtube and savored it. physcially I was weak the first 7 days, by the second week and on I had high energy levels and felt absolutly no hunger and fine...though you dont want to exert yourself. day 8 I was bent over puking out bile and toxins my liver had to dump becouse it was busy itself detoxing a lifetime of shit out of me. I had a fevor that accompyied that, it was horrible night but it was a sign I needed to fast...once that was over I felt really really good... mentally I was sharper and thought about things in different ways that I have never approched similarly before...I felt clear minded, content, secure, focused and apprciated how we are designed. we spend a lot of time living, socializing around food and eating so this break put me in a different prespective. music put me off, did not like it during the fast, just quite time...reading I could not do either. by day 17 I woke up smelling awful because of the ketones and toxins leaving me... after I broke the fast I absolutley had food on my mind literally 24/7 for about a week...I was cooking things and looking up recipes like no other...was complled to lol... after I regained strenght I felt better than I had ever, clear mind, high energy no fog.... edit the benifits were besides the mind and body was I looked yonger, glowing skin, white eyes etc.
Made a commitment to myself to hike this mountain everyday for the month of July. I did it this morning. 1 day down, 30 to go https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowles_Mountain
I hiked the Grouse Grind today. Made it to the top in an hour and twenty. It was a tough hike today, because I don't think my muscles had fully recovered from the hike we did on Saturday, and I also had some pain in my left knee.
Wasn't sure who this was, so I Googled the name. He's got one of those freakish steroid guts like Big Lenny from the Jason Genova videos.
^ Now that looks like a nice workout. Tonight I did my usual full-body routine, except I omitted deadlifts in place of a few extra sets of heavy squats. I had a tremendous amount of strength for having went a whole week without a refeed, and I got through my sets surprisingly fast tonight with little rest time in between each set.
I hiked in Lynn Canyon today for about 90 minutes. I wanted to swim in one of the pools but I didn't have my swim suite and there were way too many people around for me to go in in my panties.
