Nana fucking RAGED that cake. There is none left, it was gone in minutes. AND AND AND for the first time in my life instead of calling me fat, she said "Wow Bail, you look like a rail." I think that was a compliment, haha.
I made my first from scratch last thanksgiving. It was pretty bad haha. I made 5 other desserts that were awesome but the pie just didn't set up right. But I'm on dessert duty this year again so hopefully I can make something better!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derby_pie INGREDIENTS: Single pie crust, which you can make from your very own recipe. If you're too rushed for that, we recommend those wonderful Pillsbury crusts that you merely have to put in the pie pan and crimp! Find them in the refrigerated biscuit section of the supermarket. Filling: 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled 2 eggs 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans 2 tablespoons Kentucky Bourbon Beat eggs with cooled butter. Add flour & sugar. Beat until mixed well. Stir in pecans, chocolate & bourbon. Pour mixture into pie shell. Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes, or until set. Serve with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, or both!
That does sound delicious! I have all those ingredients minus the bourbon, I'll definitely try it out some day soon!
make sure you use good bourbon. It really makes all the difference in the world. Preferably Woodford reserve. But thats expensive. Jim Beam, ancient age, and Buffalo Trace are all from my hometown and are delicious.
