What I said to kitty was way to see where she is at in knowledge Bible prophecy. I don't believe she understand the authority that the Bible speaks with becuase it has detailed fulfilled prophecy. Keep in mind that was only one example out of probably thousands of prophecies in the Bible. The Yahweist were blind to see that their God was walking right in front of them on earth-Jesus. Also keep in mind a prophecy Jesus fulfilled "He came to his own, but his own did not recieve him."
jesusdiedforu, my knowledge of prophecy does extend beyond tarot. i'm just not impressed with the infallible accuracy prophecy in general - and that includes the bible, nostradamus, mother shipton, automatic writing, spiritualist channelling, prophetic dream, astrology, agnes nutter, and the tarot (which you could say i am "fluent" in.) all prophecy is over-rated, and usually misinterpreted. more harm than good usually comes from it, especially when it is taken too seriously. that is simply not what divination/prophesy is for, or how it works. we welcome respectful dialogue and debate, but proseletyzing is crossing the line. this is our forum. back off before you're reported.
The Yahweist were blind because they waited on the messiah of the god of Moses, when Jesus was the messiah of the god of Abraham. Trying to bring his fathers children back to him, and away from this tyranical god that came to Moses.
Ok, I want to understand where you are coming from... You believe that the God of Moses is different from the God of Abraham?
Don't forget Asia over there. There is definitely the Hindu Vedas which is the oldest thing out there IIRC. Of course I would also want to add Homer, Hesiod and Plato, maybe Marcus Aurelius to the list. The Golden Verses and the Manual of Epictetus are also primary texts I rank as pretty high. I don't believe these to be inerrant but I do regard them as sacred. The message is only as good as the medium.
There is five hundred gap between the Old and New Testament. Laying aside that Christianity was groomed to become a religion for the Gentiles as well as the Jews, a lot can and did happen in the Intertestament Period. Alexander made Judea part of Greece, Rome then made Greece part of the Roman Empire. Cultural influences far and wide entered into Judea which was an important Roman territory.
or the americas. the mayans were really into prophecy. hence all the hype about their calendar and 2012.
JesusDiedForU, did you not read my original post at all? You seemed to have responded to it, so i thought you read it. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114634&page=4&pp=10 I wrote it all for you, to present your religions primal roots, as they relate to other pagan beliefs. Its long, but it will let you know what i am talking about.
I thought that it was the belif in acient religons and or magick religons all with a common theam of loving nature...
NatureFreak, the harm none exists only in Wicca, and "Wiccaesqe" pagan beliefs, but it is by no means applicable to any other pagan beliefs. Its just not so for the rest of us. I harm none because i am a nice guy, not because it is part of my beliefs. That one is just morality. Art you are pretty accurate in your post, its the worship of the old gods, or sometimes just the earth, but its the primal mindset that puts us so close to earth, rather than the "love nature theme", its more of a be nature theme, as a child of Her, naturally you love your mother.
did sicenece not disprove polytheism thoguh?I mean Apollo is not riding around in a chariot giding the sun...
Apollo wasnt literally the sun, but represented by the sun. Just like Lugh wasnt really the sun, and Lucifer isnt really the Morning Star. Pagan deities were given the aspects of natural phenomenan, but were not thought of as actually being those things. There were fertility gods that one prayed to for rain, but they werent the rain. Science hasnt "proven" anything. Its just as speculative as religion. It would do you good to know more of what you speak before speaking.
I didnt take it that way art, either you were starting a debate, or sincerly confused, so i had to stop it either way. Glad it made sense to you.
yeah I dont really know to much about paganism except for wicca. So when talking about acient gods I gess I thought of them more of in a mythological sense.
Well, any questions will be answered man. I like to share what i know whenever someone needs it. So let me know.
