Never heard of needing lubricant for masturbation, but then hardly anyone in the UK is circumcised so that probably explains it. It's a rather strange idea that this simple pleasure requires "extra's" or else it may be difficult or impossible... Off the topic, I'm with RooRshack on the issue of circumcision. Many bizarre cultural practices seem perfectly reasonable on the inside. All sorts of tortuous arguments are made to support it, because the alternative is to accept that one condones harm, and is therefore a "bad person". Hence a defence such as "I support the choice of parents", because, well, freedom of choice and backing up parents is a "good" and "moral" thing isn't it? Likewise, those already circumcised will claim they were never harmed by it. Anything to reduce dissonance, and an absurd fallacy of logic to boot, since they are quite obviously not in a position to judge what they are missing.
It's bad enough that babies are forced to undergo the ritualistic barbaric butchery of superstitious dogma, but for those that do it for no other reason than class & culture there can be no excuse. If a religion requires a man be circumcised, then it should wait until he can make the choice for himself. If anything that would have more religious significance as it would be a demonstration of personal sacrifice, rather than having the torturous sacrifice made for them in infancy. As stated earlier in this thread, I was cut for medical reasons this time last year, so at least I am one of the minority who can truly speak from experience of both options, and I can confirm that it is preferable, by far, to remain intact.
No, you want to stay away from anything oil based. Lotion works fine for most, but if you need more then any water based lube will be fine.
What's wrong with olive oil? Though I have no experience with it for masturbation, olive oil is great for other things that require lube... So are some other high-grade cooking oils. And it's easier to come by than purpose-made lube.
If they are, they're usually not oily. The problem with oil is that it's messy and doesn't wash off very easily. Trust me I've learned this through years of experience having to use lubes in various situations. The gel lubes are even worse as they tend to actually dry you out. So water based wins by far IMO. They can stay slicker than oil for much longer. And they wash away very easily without drying you out.
I must say, I suspect that you've used poor quality lube. I think oil based is generally considered superior, but it's not suitable for use with latex condoms, hence the warnings against. KY jelly is good for about two minutes, and then it's dry and crusty... olive oil is good for until it sinks in or gets wiped away (and sinking in is fine, it's good for you). And olive oil isn't messy in any way that a bit of soap won't fix, or just time, it will sink in and benefit your skin.
Well, you can stick with oil if you like. I'm only sharing what I've found through my experiences. And by far the best lube I've ever come across, and the only one I use now is water based.
Any oil based lubricant is fine for straightforward masturbation, but should never be used with condoms (or silicone based textiles of toys, such as the FleshLight) - and that includes vegetable based oils. I don't always use a lubricant when I masturbate, unless I'm using my FleshLight when it's essential, but I find it to be a case of 'Horses For Courses' as far as choice is concerned. Whenever I'm masturbating by hand I prefer to use BoysOwn Silk or Durex Play, as these are less liable to dry out so quickly. However, when using my FleshLight I find that KY has the edge as far as slipperiness goes, and being enclosed, with less surface area available for evaporation, it tends to last much longer.
I was introduced to Johnsons Baby Oil by a guy in a porn cinema. Now love using it for long edging wanks.
I've used olive oil & one of the downsides is it stains anything it comes in contact with - clothes etc. You would have to take them to a drycleaners to get stains removed, Just hope they don't ask how you got them so oily lol. I have considered trying to squirt some olive oil or other lube up my anus for something out of the ordinary during one of my private anal play sessions.
You can use special lubricants specialized just for masturbating but if you are young and still maturing and expriencing out of curiosity i guess you can use olive oil. Pure olive oil that is. I prefer extra virgin oil yes that is a type of oil. And im talking about cooking oil. I researched and it cannot damage your skin due to lack of chemicals
I use the olive oil that's made for cooking with as well - a lot cheaper too than the type they sell at chemists.
There's several I use. Most of the time, mainly when using my FleshLight, I use BoysOwn / EXS, mainly because it does the job & it's cheap. However, it does have the drawback of drying out quite quickly & becoming quite sticky - although that can easily be rehydrated with a quick application of spit. Other times, if I feel like treating myself I'll use the common all garden KY. This is far superior, but also far more costly. If I'm on a sex date, playing away, I'll usually take a tube of Durex Play, as it's a convenient dispenser that slips in the pocket nice & discretely, although if at home I'll tend to use the KY. Of course, you should always bear in mind that if using condoms, all lubricants HAVE to be water based. I'm not certain about vegetable based oils, such as Olive Oil & everyday Cooking Oil, but I wouldn't want to risk it. For a ha'eporth of tar, and all that...
