I think most of those that distinguished against constitutionality have gone AWOl back to Canada in most cases like they did during Vietnam. Thank god for Canada, but with the SPP, this may no longer be an option.
It's all over the news in the last few days that most of the military is made up of felons that need waivers in order to enlist. Great band of heros we are applauding isn't it? Blackwater shoots on whim and our military is comprised of convicted felons.
No problem at all: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/14/us/14military.html?ex=1329109200&en=06c953182b1c51bb&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss http://www.chicagotribune.com/services/newspaper/printedition/thursday/chi-recruit11oct11,0,614332.story?coll= http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2006/10/01/ING42LCIGK1.DTL http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/07/13/america/13recruits.php
I would like you to back up this claim. I want to see some statistics that show that most of the 2.68 million military personnel are felons. You said it is all over the news, surely it should not be difficult to provide at least ONE link showing this claim.
because of the lack of "qualified" recruits, the army (military) is slacking off some of the things that, in the past, would have disqualified an individual from joining the army. some of these are: drug use minor felonies over weight age (now 45 I think)
I don't think there's a big demand to join the military these days, so I'm sure the standards have declined. When I joined 25 years ago, the military was an opportunity to see the world, learn a trade and get money for college, gain some discipline, and if you were poor, provide for yourself and your family, while feeling a sense of pride that you were serving to protect your country, whose government had a reasonable sense of conscience when it came to international policies and diplomacy. I never dreamed the military would become a tool to be exploited by a group of corrupt politicians for their personal agenda (I was naive enough to think our government had evolved to the point where they had a system of checks and balances in place to prevent this). Now the military is an "opportunity" to get your ass shot off for a cause that is criminal, only to find that the government you've been put in harm's way to defend doesn't give a shit about you.
If any thing the standards to join the military are higher then ever, its harder to join any armed services now then it ever was in our history. You have to have a high school diploma and can not have a criminal record.
we are talking about the US Army and Marines, especially the Army, has dropped their standards for admission, to open the door for more recruits that otherwise wouldn't have been accepted. the USAF still has high standards, not sure about the Navy.
Gardener, I am still waiting for you to back up your outrageous claims. How is your credibility doing???
If you're in the military and you question the Constitutionality of the war, be sure not to let Rush Limbaugh get wind of it... ...damn "phony soldiers"...
