yet it is an opinion that can be factually proven, assuming you accept the standards for what is good music...
okay, lets shed the philosophical facade and establish some common facts. music is a human creation, and so is subject to human reasoning. there are certain things that make music desirable to listen to, and certain techniques that are only in existance for this purpose. thats why, lets say, thelonius monk is more desirable to listen to than a jack hammer... the musical elements, the rhythms and melodic fluctuations require skill to produce, thus rendering someone like jerry garcia a more capable musician than kurt cobain... ya dig?
I dig it. Lets say this. It is a known fact that elton john is more talented than fred penner, jUst as it is a fact that garcia was more talented than mr kurt. IT has nothing to do with opinion in any way. I think what soulrebel was getting at is that there are millions of artists out there... and only a couple of them died at 27... it could have been more than a coincidence if it was all the most talented amazing artists that died at 27 rather than just a handfull of drugusers. ( for this reason I believe it is more than a coincidence... and thats where opinion comes in).
of course it is. Talent is something that you work hard for. If someone with less talen than someone else cant be accepting of this fact they need to be woken up and slapped.
but music has such a wide range of talent involved, instrument techinques, vocals, lyrics, ect. .. really who's to say.
but they didnt have any power over people... they merely provide(ed) an outlet for people who otherwise didnt have one...
