I think he cut them, but anyway I would advise against just leaving them alone now. Whoever did your "dreads" damaged your hair, you need to wash everything out and start over. Try going natural or just backcomb and leave them alone.

Believe me, you do not want to fuck about with hair after you've had perming solution on it. With perming solution you cannot wash your hair for two weeks, or brush it with anything but an afro comb to allow the perming solution to settle and prevent a frizzed up mess.

If OP starts again and brushes out now, the perming solution he has on hair combined with a normal/nit brush will damage his hair so much, that it will suffer severe breakage and damage and his dreads will not be able to cope further down the line.

If OP feels he should start again the only solution would be to shave and wait for the hair to grow back. So he should leave it.

If OP had not had the perming solution applied I would say he should listen to your advice.

The only reason I'm saying he should do nothing but wash it as of now is because it doesn't really matter if shampooing alone fucks up the permer if OP plans on having these dreads long term as he's going to have a mess on his hands if he brushes out within a year.

    thats so not true....

unless he used the strongest perm solution possible witch is rarely used unless on the kinkyiest healthiest coaarse hair and or had chemicals services (bleach, iodized color and such) on his hair before his hair is not that damaged trust me and if that perm damged his hair as much as u think it is it would already broken off or u would see the damage and u can wash yer hair 24 hours after a perm and u can use a regular comb, the brush u use has nothing to do with damage unless u rip yer hair wit it

oh and btw u dont leave perm solution in and let it settle, u rinse and shampoo it out after around 30 mins and then nuetrilize it

Lol dam man a perm + dread wax that's not too good if I were you id boil a pot of water dip your dreads in the water wear rubber gloves and squeeze out as much wax as possible then wash them and from their just let them be and wash weekly but im sure youll still manage if you left them alone so its whatever but I wouldn't use wax man its not good.

another question, would a 100% natural shampoo be good to wash my dreads with? and how long should i wait to first wash them?

Yes it is. Maybe shit's different where you are. You do wash it out after half an hour but after that final rinse you have to let it settle for a few weeks. If you try and brush it out you end up with a fuck up. A friend of mine hated hers, tried to wash and brush it out the day after, her hair is absolutely fucked now. Shame.

Personally I'd wash that crap out of your hair asap, it won't do any good keeping it in there. Then brace yourself for idiotic questions from non-dreaded folks who think you're not dreading your hair anymore when they start to "fall apart".

BTW. Have you read the faq yet?

I don't ever set inside salons here! They're all run by pig shit dumb people. You can tell what year they got their qualifications as most of them can cut one style of hair only!! working in a salon has something of a bad reputation here, not like America at all.

My friend looked like Weird Al

This reminds me of that scene in Legally Blonde when the murderer claims she was washing her hair during the time of the murder. Then, Elle catches her in that lie claiming that one who had just had her hair permed should know better than to shampoo it. The murderer's hair was still permed, therefore, she had no alibi.

this must be accurate since it's on t.v. and all...

Don't wash it out just leave them for a while and you'll have dreads. Wax if you want it doesn't do any damage but don't wax for more then 3 months. I had mega straight hair and that shit just doesn't wanna dread!

Weren't you the one complaining your dreads smelt like carpet and taking the whole day to dry...

The main reason your hair didn't want to "dread" is because it was too short for your hair type.

Nah my hair was over my shoulders when i started dreading. It had to be at least 16 inches. It smells like carpet because i had fat dreads and they never dry properly...

And I don't see the point in fucking with it now. He's started them unconventionally and it sounds like major overkill IMO but they'll soon lock up and become dreads.
