i found out what is the idea behind Frogdev worship Two toads decorated with flowers and vermilion go through a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony at Khochakandar, 365 km (225 miles) north of Calcutta, in this June 5, 2005 file photo. The 5,000 Indian Rupees (68 pounds) ceremony was held by Indian villagers hoping to propitiate the rain gods and end a dry spell. Dogs went woof over a Brazilian puppy love motel, an Australian trained mice to surf the waves and an Indian village married off toads in bid for rain. In the world of the weird and wacky, the animal kingdom was the big winner in 2005. REUTERS/Stringer/Files
I can't help but think that as humans we'd be insane to worship a deadly virus. That's because I also think that ultimately, a lot of our ideas of good and bad are based purely on our own human spieces interest. We have to survive in this world - we may think about the next one - but still, no-one in their right mind really wants to become ill or die prematurely. I think we just have to hope that the advance of medical science will one day bring a vaccine and a cure.
So in other words we fear premature death, extinction of human race, that is why we do not worship the virus not because we are trying to avoid the extinction of human race but because we fear it. The fact is God is the end of this fear, that is why we try to see God in things that end fear and raise our consciousness rather than put it in more ignorance and destruction.
I don't think that is what he is saying, one needs to develop the power to discriminate between what is proper and what is not, what is good for you and what is not, once you have that, avoid things that destroy you and go toward things that raise your consciousness, you will finally get self realized, until then you won't. God exists in an aids virus as well, but one needs to stay away from it unless you are a complete idiot ofcourse, not that i am calling you one.
If god is omnipresent, still that doesn't mean everything is worthy of being worshipped. My own preference where things like viruses are concerned would be to kill them. But it's an interesting question. I thin that if we accept that everything is to be worshipped we'd have to worship the virus - but I don't see it that way. And anyway, there are no male and female viruses. I think if people are going to worship anything in the way of material things it should not be a particular object but the universe as a whole, or a form which represents this. It seems unlikely that many would choose a virus to represent the universe. Not everything that exists is divine - many things are very un-divine.
God is everywhere. But just because God is in fire, does not mean you immolate your body. Worship not the frog, or the aids virus or the well carved stone idol. Worship the divinity that has taken those forms.
I wonder at times if 'worship' is the right approach. It depends I suppose what's meant by worship. If the divine is the Self, then it would seem that there is actually nothing higher to be worshipped. Rather than worship, I think to focus on realization is far better, and it avoids all this confusion about what is to be worshipped.
Some say this already exists, and it is called religion. A more virulent strain is fundamentalist religion.
No approach can be called right or wrong universally. The divine is the self, the self in ALL. Therefore by your logic, everything must be worshipped. It is good to focus on realization. Worship is a step in the sadhana. At least at an elementary level, a seeker usually turns to worship. Worship what? Worship the divine, in whichever form you choose. Worship how? Through love and whatever service is appropriate to the form.
The aids virus seems similar Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who was considered the dual incarnation of Krishna and Radha and so the aids virus contains both the masculine and the feminine... very interesting
Aids contains nothing except a bunch of nucleotides found in an RNA that encode certain proteins like reverse transcriptase that incorporates the retrovirus into the cell's DNA. Then, when a stimulus triggers the viral DNA transcription, it proliferates and makes more viral proteins and RNA, which then self assemble and go other cells to infect. These nucleotides really have nothing to do with masculinity or feminity.
Worship our saviour the rabbit with a pancake on it's head... Some of the ideas in this thread are SOOOOOO retarted...... Confirms my earlier theories that insanity is the final goal of religions
If one takes that view, then we'd have to worship everything I suppose. Or nothing at all. However - there is a difference between the self and its manifestations. Because the self is in a thing doesn't actually make it a suitable object of worship. And if it is the self we worship, then I don't see any need of any object to represent it - and no object can do so adequately anyway.
If I ever meet him then I'll have some harsh words to say - about my friend who died of the virus after catching it in India, and the millions in Africa doomed to a life of misery because of it.
