Despite my feelings about Peta, I agree. They're getting some bad press right now (not that they usually need any help). Seems like they were being provoked in hopes of catching them saying something wilder, and all they got stuck with was, "try a humane bug trap," lol. Lame.

I can understand why people don't like PETA. They apparently seem to contradict themselves sometimes, they go to pretty long measures to oversee the correct treatment of animals, and they've got Pamela Anderson as a spokesperson!!

But, as Greengirl said, they've got a good cause. Are they really psychotic? I don't think so.

I think this whole thing could've been to bring a bit more attention to their organisation. And it has (for better or for worse). They've covered animal testing, they've covered KFC, they've covered killing animals for sport.. What's left? The president killing a fly.

Is this really why you hate PETA?

Show us some more evidence as to why PETA is so crazy.

lol, Laura, I'd like to see some examples when PETA hasn't looked batshit crazy. Even when I was a vegetarian, I hated the bastards, because they don't care about human rights at all. And when animal rights supercede our own rights as individuals, there's a major problem.

 

No, you've got it wrong. I didn't start this thread because they're against Obama swatting a fly. I don't care if they're against it. I started this thread because they made it public that they're against Obama swatting a fly. You said it yourself. You've swatted flies. EVERYONE swats at flies. Someone said earlier, 'well they can't be biased they have to protect even flies.' Alright then, they wanna protect flies that badly. Are they gonna start spray-painting red on fly swatters and hating EVERYBODY?! If they don't like it....don't just point it out when Obama does it. Put up posters, make t-shirts saying "swatting flies is murder." They're baised and they thought their whining was okay because 'he's the president, he should know better.' As they have proved they are an all or nothing type of group. So I fully expect to see posters, t-shirts, boycotts, and protests, all to protect the fly in the very near future. Fuck Peta.

 

PETA only give the whole animal rights movement a bad name, I wouldn't be surprised if that was their hidden agenda. If it isn't then I think the people running this NGO are a wee bit barmy.

I try to show as much compassion to every living creature I can, but this excludes flies and mosquitoes, both of which go out of their fucking way to annoy the shit out of me, and they also spread disease, so if killing the fuckers is what I need to stop them biting me in my sleep or buzzing round my head, then so it be.

 

peta seem goofy sometime but we do need them in all their goofiness.

lol my kids already know i "kill" animals. they ask what meat is and i tell them and they seem to be ok with it. if they werent i wouldnt make them eat it. a little off topic but i just wanted to mention...

 

no it's kinda on topic. I like that mentality. If I ever have kids I wanna be like that. It's being subjective. Thats a good thing. You don't kill animals. You eat their already dead corpses. You kill animals is just Peta's way of being extreme and trying to make eveyone who isn't like them feel guilty. Now that I think about it Peta sounds an awful lot like organized religion!

 

I like being at the top of the food chain. It beats the hell out of the alternative.

 

PETA will cause a riot when they see the president swatting at a damn fly, which I think is a natural act. All animals capible of swatting flys do it - cats, horses, etc.

They are reallly hush hush though when it comes to the animals they've killed in their headquarters. Youtube the confession.
