Legalisation of drugs is a minor issue. Of course I'd love to be able to walk into a coffee shop and buy an 8th, but it's not really going to affect my voting habits. I'd much rather a left wing politican who opposed legalisation than a right wing politician who supported it....
Fuck that, it's a MAJOR issue. For starters we could solve a lot of the problems surrounding drug use overnight by legalising and regulating it (in political timescales). Secondly, I'd be able to buy decent hash in Scotland. Fuck the prohibition laws.
Compared to, say, the hundreds of thousands who've been killed in Iraq, the thousands dying every day of hunger and poverty and the destruction of the environment, I don't really care whether or not you can buy decent hash in Scotland. As I said, I'm pro-legalisation, and you're right that it would be beneficial in many ways, but it remains a minor political issue....
