    Fuck them back.

In Pennsylvania, here's a trick that's worked for me... I buy a used car, with no loan from the bank. No license or insurance is usually needed to buy the car and you can even get the title in your name in this state.

Next comes the time to drive it. I need a license plate. Well, I call up Progressive. I tell them I have this used cheap car that I own, and I only need liability insurance, because, if I total it into a tree and don't hit anyone, I'm not going to cry about losing a $1000 car. Anyway, they give me with my horrible record, a rate of about $1400 for the whole year, average. I don't tell them that my license is suspened. You only need to pay about 500 of that max to get started. I come up with about $500. I get insurance.

Then I go to a car lot and tell them I need a plate for this car. I show them my titlework, my insurance card, and then they give me a plate, with registration.

A month or two later, progressive sends me a letter, telling me that after reviewing my record, they see that I have no license. No problem, because progressive has never dropped me for this - they simply raise my rate about 200 bucks for the year since I lied to them about my license. Big deal.

I've already got my license plate, registration, and with insurance, I can get the car inspected too. After that, I can drop the insurance if I want to, and from the outside, my car will appear perfectly legal for the next year, when you can simply repeat the process of getting insurance again, and renewing your inspection and insurance.

I've done this time and time again when I was in a pinch. Sure, you'll get a $1000 fine in this state for driving without insurance if you get caught, but if I do this for 10 years and don't get caught, I save over $15000 in insurance fees anyway. And I don't plan on driving like an asshole or trying to get into an accident either, most people don't, so I'm willing to take the risk once in awhile.

This is one of the subjects I will discuss in further detail someday when I reveal the work of my years of existance in writing, my autobiography. Just thought I'd share something that's worked for me.

yeah, its been like that for a long time and as long as cars and medical costs continue to rise, so will premiums for insurance. A small ray of hope is that once you turn 25, your rates will go down quite alot. I am 45, yeah, an old fart, but i have never had an accident and no tickets for over 15 years and i drive a 1999 vehicle in florida and my rates are about 600.00 a year for full coverage. the point im making is that as bad as it seems now, it will get better when you are older. My advice is to keep your driving record clean while you are young, you will be glad you did later in life.

    I'd care if I wrecked a $1000 car. Now, a $250 car... Lookout trees!
My mom has liability and that's all. SuxX0rs.

I have progressive, and their rates are pretty reasonable.

I had MetLife until the national office stopped servicing Florida customers... which was a shame, because they were quite good to me. I was in a serious accident a few years ago (not my fault) and they were incredibly accomodating. We had comphrehensive coverage on the car, and they gave us a fair settlement. We also got a week and a half of rental car; usually, you only get it until you get the check.

Man, I guess I have been pretty lucky. I pay $75.00 a month for liability. My car is old and cheap and I have had no tickets or accidents, hopefully it will go down later this year when I turn 21.

I pay 260/ month for the cheapest liablity policy I can get for a little 98 neon.

Kayla do you really work at an insurance agency? that's cool. it must be nice to be on the screwing end of things!!

I called that safe auto place and they don't insure cars in NY. WTF.

I didn't realize the rates were so much higher for young drivers....

My insurance is about 700 per year for full coverage and high liability that I need for work.

our annual premiums exceed the blue book value of our car. The law requires us to have insurance so they've got you over a barrel, big time. What a fuckin' scam.

Wanted to add my husband is the only driver in the family,41 years old with a clean drving record. Partly it's that our car is old and sort of a heap, but there should be some consideration of economic status in the pricing. When the car is worth less than you are forced to pay in then something is out of whack.

Oh, ya'll don't want to get me started on car insurance!! LOL I used to sell insurance for Progressive. It IS a scam of the government, they just want your money. Get into an accident and see if you don't have to fight them for every penny!!! Plus, did you know that State Farm will drop you if you have three NOT AT FAULT accidents within some certain amount of time? WTF? Basically you get punished every time you have to actually use the insurance you pay for every month!!!!

Thats what you get... a jeep is outragous to insure.. i drive one... Its considered a powerful vehicle... if you had a front wheel drive 4 cyclinder 4 door car it would be cheaper to insure by probably half.... 4 wheel drive is expensive for any driver under 21 or 25 depending on your state..
Did you take drivers ed? if you did you get 10 off with most insurances... also take a defensive driving glass that will knock more off...
other than that there is nothing you can do... stay away from big name companies... try a small one..

Dude, on a car that old I would just get the minimum liability insurance you need for your state. It won’t cover you but, will cover the other driver if you get into an accident. I mean you are paying either full comprehensive or collision insurance on a very old car and that is just insane. You might as well take the money out of your pocket and burn it.

    Wow Seamonster...you didnt know?

I had to get rid of my car for that exact reason (College $$ to worry about now). I drove a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am with 350xxx km's on it. I bought the car for $600 CAD. They wanted me to pay 450 a MONTH for insurance!!! A FUCKING MONTH!!!! Basic, EXTREMELY limited *only if you hit someone or another car you were covered* insurance! WTF?!??! I drove it around for 2 months, and said screw this..got rid of it.

I cant even IMAGINE the cost of insurance for a new vehicle + vehicle payment for me when I get out of college! The rates are only getting worse. FUCK YOU CAR INSURANCE!!

Just for liability insurance? I never heard of such a thing! If you don’t mind ne asking what state you live in. I want to stay far away from there. I have a friend who is a menace to the highways. Well, that is not quite right. You would be safe on the road. It is the sidewalks, buildings and trees you would have to worry about. Anyway, this guy gets into more accidents than I can remember and he only pays a little over 2,000 A YEAR for insurance.
