SpliffVortex, you are my new hero.... Fuck you, Spiderman..... SpliffVortex can kick your lilly ass!!!
guess y'all have never seen the movie Starman - in a line from it; green means go red means stop yellow means go very very fast LOL - I love that line. Europe has had the red light and speeding cameras for some time now, but I don't agree with its usage. what if you loan out your car to someone and they run the light. You get the ticket because of the license plate, but you weren't driving or it was an emergency. Sure you can prove it and have the ticket removed, but it is a major pain in the ass. It is just 1984, but twenty years late and big brother bush is watching and reading and listening to all we do.
Traffic cameras have been in use for awhile. Didn't they even make those little plexiglass covers illegal in a couple places becuase they'd hide your license# to the camera. It would cause this white sheen to show up on film from the angle of the light. And there are surveillance cameras in alot of major cities that have nothing to do with traffic. I'd be willing to bet that some enterprising souls have gone so far as to map out the locations and publish it somewhere.
Sorry man, a hectic life still doesn't give you a right to break a good law. I'm all for breaking dumb laws, which is why I smoke pot (actually I smoke pot because pot is great). The difference is, stopping at the lights keeps things moving smoothly and safely. It doesn't infringe on our rights and freedoms and serves a good purpose. These are the kinds of laws I respect. If the last thing you want is a ticket, don't run red lights. And just because cops abuse their power and run through them, or other civilians do, doesn't mean it's a good idea. Use your head man. Still, I am against the cameras, I think it makes people more anxious. The more people feel they are watched, the more stressed out they get, even if they're law abiding citizens. Stress and anxiety make peopld do strange things, and generally not good healthy things, for themselves or others. Besides, having cameras out seems to imply we are in need of being watched, that is, guilty until proven innocent.
Cameras don't bother me, but mainly because I create alot of road rage by actually going the speed limit. I do gun it through yellow lights (bad breaks) but supposedly (according to my old redneck driving instructor), if you're in the intersection when the light changes, it won't count against you. Better safe than sorry though... The thing is that I HAVE to, because while most of you can go over the speed limit and just get a ticket, I have a very good chance of getting my license revoked for 6 months to a year because I'm under 18. Even 5 miles over can do that or make me be forced to spend a weekend taking classes my family can't afford. So I kind of wish there were cameras around here to cut down on the speeding because there's nothing more unnerving to a new driver like me than a soccer mom careening down a 35mph road going 75 to get little Johnny and Suzie to practice in the minivan. Alot of major highways track speeding from the air, so cameras tracking driving is really nothing new. It just doesn't bother me so much, especially since we now have cameras in the halls of my school, which I do have a problem with, especially since I go to a rich, suburban school that has never had any problems EVER except for one hostage situation 10 years ago. But I just make faces at them and go on my way...
cameras bother me man.... all this shit is gonna do is lead to actual video cameras, and then that's gonna make reality tv even shittier.... I can see it now.... that huge fucking fake-accent-redneck-wannabe Larry the Cable Guy.... he'll be hosting some shitty show on the Bush Network called: "Speeding Cattle Who Didn't Quite 'Get 'er Done!"
