You see no danger with the US Government doing the same thing when it comes to their own radical right wing agenda? How about that church pastor in NC that booted longtime church members for voting for Kerry?
this has nothing to do with the subject at hand...it is technicallya private organization, so he can do whatever he wants [within the confines of the law (like no killing peoples and whatnot)]...besides, religion in the states is, unfortunatly, basically above the law...
You have to understand Huck in order to see his "logic". He is vehemantly against homosexuals, pro-choicers,infertile couples(because they create a market for things like sperm banks and invitro fertilization), people with parkinson's,alzeimers(insert any other disease that could be possibly cured with stem-cell research),non-christians, and anyone else he deems teh evol pariahs spawned from the Lucifer. Huck, what is it that you are whining about here exactly? That homosexuality exists period or that you feel that your rights to hate homosexuals are being underminded by allowing them to have civil unions?
It does have something to do with the subject at hand as Huck was talking about squelching dissent and this pastors action is an example of an attempt to squelch dissent. US Tax Law clearly forbids Tax Exempt Non Profit Organizatoins such as Churches from advocating or opposing a canidate. The First Amendment, forbids this pastors action and Gods own actions and words forbid this type of action and attitude. I've been on this website long enough to see that there is no reasoning with Huck. Huck dislikes many things and ideas but he also dislikes other Christians(like myself) that don't agree with his narrowminded view of the world. Huck,do you really think that your close minded, hate filled tirades are leading people to Christ? I THINK NOT!!!!!! All you are doing is turning people off to Christianity and making folks think that Christians are a bunch of hateful warmongers. Remember Huck you catch more flies with honey than ya do with vinegar.
Yeah, where and when did this ever happen?? I've worked in a bookstore for years and the only publishing conflicts i have heard of involved US customs seizing shipments of published materials destined for canada, citing "obscenity" laws... other than that, i know of NO instances of anyone having to pay a fine purely for a political view. Anyways, i don't want to get this too off subject... educate me if you have some facts about publishing fines though please.
ah, i just remembered one publishing conflict... i knew there had to be ONE! ;-) It was when Chapters bookstore banned the selling of 'Mein Kampf', hitlers autobiography... although, no fines were ever instituted... just thought i'd throw that in for the hell of it.
I'm willing to bet that that isn't the whole story. The writer was probably deliberately spreading hate or libel. I would have to see this before I believe it's as innocent as you claim. And hey, if you hate gays, why don't you just admit it? Or do you feel you have something to be ashamed about, so you hide behind a religion which is a socially acceptable way to hate things, even though the whole point of God was to spread love.....
how can the conservatives pipe on about how marriage is a sacred thing. look at how many marriages end up in divorce, especially on the right's side. how many wives has newt gingrich had. it's ridiculous
You have a good point there. Statistics show that Right Wing Conservative Republicans have a far higher divorce rate than Democrats. My folks are Liberal Democrats and they have been happily married for 37 years!
Thats just store policy, but come to think of it... I'm sure I bought my copy of Mein Kampf at Chapters here in Windsor...
i hope England dont fallow the same bullshit they do in germany about nazi books or anything related to the nazi . by the way the Prince did look handsome with the Nazi uniform on . shows great taste.
Could you be a little more specific? This wasn't a government action. A liberal church could do the same to a Bush supporter. It's called freedom of association.
See http://catholicinsight.com/online/features/article_609.shtml. I'm sure that trying to educate you about stem cell research would be a waste of time, but I will at least point out that my wife and I are infertile and have 2 adopted sons. Try limiting your posts to comments that actually have some relevance to the subject at hand. However, they are free to inform their members about candidates' views on issues that matter to them. I personally think this pastor went overboard, but this hardly amounts to government coercion. The First Amendment in no way governs the actions of pastors; it specifically protects them from government interference in church affairs. Likewise, Scripture grants pastors authority to discipline their flock. This is comical! The only think I "dislike" about you is your near total inability to reason. What exactly have I said that makes me a hateful warmonger?
