I have camped in the UP, and on Isle Royal where you can actually see Canada, and therefor are qualified to represent the US in the UN

 

Sandflies? Gypsy Moths? Or those... river bugs that come in swarms so thick you can't drive through them when they're out it's so bad and the roads get slippery with their guts all packed on.

sounds great. I mostly just stay around Lake Michigan and cherry growing country.

 

I like the outdoors but I like to walk at night without having to schlep a flashlight everywhere.
the family part is complicated. I'm related to a lot of passive aggressive people.

Probably, but it snows more than it does in Jersey here. Lots of Americans don't believe that, but on average we get at least 2 meters of snow a year where I live. The past two years we've have 3 meters.
