one time i spilled a cup of water on my dresser and there was a little cardboard-like painted box there with a hemp necklace in it and i didnt know that it was wet and when i opened it like a loonnggg time after the water spilled the hemp necklace was all moldy and super nasty it was crazy
That would work great if it's removable. Some stuff just gets tied right onto the bod though and only comes off with the scissors. If it's removable that is a great option though. peace barefootnikki
Like i said before, as long as you just take a few seconds to dry it out with a towel or something, it'll be fine. Excess water causes mold, but if it's just a little damp then it usually manages to dry out before it can get moldy.....even the thick stuff.
yeah ...it's usually fine when it's a little wet...but the more you wet it the quicker it starts to wear and get softer.
i never take mine off. if you built it strong enough, it should last at least a year before you need to make any repairs. be careful though, because if you don't get soap on them they'll get moldy and smelly.
One thing you should be careful about is if you have a design that is more detailed with spaces in the pattern. When it is wet it puffs up & you might not be able to see the design as well ~ I did also have an anklet I wore for a long time but it drove me crazy because the weight from being wet after a shower would stretched it out & I could not tighten it any more than it was... But for most things wetting it is definantly a plus. I also like to rub a little conditioner into my freshly made things & let it soak for a while.
i make lots of hemp jewelry for my friends and a friend came to me with some beads and said, "make a bracelet for me." so i did and i noticed as it aged the color has lightened and the beads hues weren't strong enough for the shower and chlorine. i but a bunch of glass beads recently though. i think i will seel some at the next dead show!
I like to wet it and put lotion on it so it won't itch, the only problem is that when you do that with the thicker hemp it makes it look dirty in some places.
