Indeed, under the table they'd probably never find, but if it's on the book you best report it, otherwise it's welfare fraud, which on top of being a crime, you will be forced to pay back the money.

yup. if you have money in the bank, don't try to lie about it. if you want to not report some chunk of money, keep it in CASH[IMG]

As someone currently on unemployment, and having had an employer, kind enough to give a seminar on the subject before they laid us all off, I can tell you, that it does not matter how much money you have in the bank already. They don't look at it. Unemployment money come from the company you get laid off from, or if fired, like one other said you have to prove you were not fired for legitimate reason, in order to claim unemployment. If you make money while on unemployment and don't report it to them, and get caught, you will have to pay back all unemployment money you received.
If like me you were laid off and qualify for unemployment, you can still get a small job and still get some unemployment benefits, just the amount is lowered depending on how much you make.
Your best option to get details for your location is to talk to local unemployment office.
Hope this helps, if not, oh well I tried.

you get taken off like 50 bucks or somethin depends on how much you already have to pay into it. But when I started construction I got full benifits (health, dental) in 3 motnhs and after I think it was 600 hrs I got my Employment insurence account or w/e where they added the money too then, when I did get laid off I spent all of canadian winter sleepin n gettin high...it was pritty fun
