ok how about this? a black, a mexican & a white baby were actually borrowed or rented to apply for SSI or something. someone else borrowed the same babies just a few hrs later. well let`s see i`ve lived on the streets for many years. i don`t bathe often, tho i take "bird baths" quite often. i feed & help people every chance i get, often wearing myself out. i don`t contact my family often. i wear homemade clothes. i take lsd every once in awhile & smoke pot sometimes. let`s see hmm. don`t drink much, self proclaimed?, don`t need to i live it. i don`t like cops. animals eat out of my hands. i dumpster dive have so for many years. i`m using a library computer, so, don`t own one. i don`t cut down trees for firewood i only use dead wood. i don`t own a motor vehicle, when i did it was old. i`m frugal with water when i do use it. i was a vegetarian for many years.

 

& i did this naturally. i didn`t learn it from anyone else. my life has pretty much revolved around this for many years. i get spit on every day for being a hippie. but i still do it. i`m out here doing this all the time while some sit comfortably & talk about it.

I have tried to understand what this thread is about and why there is a need for two threads on spitting on vets., or apologizing to vets. No one apologized to me when they bombed my husband to smitherines. He was 20, I was 16, then after, when I remarried, I married a DAV and no body apologized to me when he would beat the living shit outta me, calling me 'gook' or when he would torture me with lite ciggeretts, or shoot at our house with our babies inside, nor did they care when he killed himself.... Where is my apology Mother Fucker!!

If there are apologizes to make I would think it be from the ones that created the mess in the first place, instead of a telegram " We Regret To Inform You" and a folded up flag oh yea and the 64.00 a month.. Big deal. What a trade off for a father, a husband a son and a brother.

You really, really what to know why the Nam Vets were so mistreated and not glorified as heros. Well the truth of it is bc, it was televised. The first war on TV. The first time ppl saw what happens in war. What goes on in the battle field. It's horrible, the horrors of war. It all wars, not just the VN war but all wars kill mame and distroy.

The ppl that sat snuggly in their homes and shook their head in disgrace at what soldiers do at the will of their commanders thought it was digusting and unjust. And it was, but no more or less then any other war. They just have never had to think about or acctually see the blood and the guts and the gore, or whatever the soldiers had to do to survive and get the job done so they could come home to their families.

Hippies were not angry with the soldiers. They did not create war,we knew they had no choice. I mean where is the choice in 15 yrs hard labor to two yrs in the army. We was busy, busy hating the gov, and trying to bring our boys home. We were in the streets protesting the war, we wrote letters and demonstraighted, we wrote song about it, we wrote poetry and painted pictures of it. Is that what we are to apologize for, us giant hippies?!?

We shouldn't be too harsh with Kinupture. I think his original post was of good intent. IMO, his mistake was writing from an emotional point of view and not using some logic and reason. His writing skills leave much to be desired. That made it difficult to fully understand him. (Ha...coming from a 10th grade dropout)

I'm like the little brother that tags along. I lived on the central coast along Hwy. 1 when I was a bopper. I used to stop and talk to those traveling through. I;d bring them water and food and dig out their stories. They were all going to "Frisco". At 15-16 it was my turn. If you listened to Victoria Williams video that I posted (sorry about the quality) she nailed it. The drugs had taken hold. The summer of love was in the past. Hippies were moving out to the country. Despair and desperation were left in the cities. Everybody was paranoid. The freaks were out on the street and we clung together for survival. Don't get me wrong there was some goodness. Joan Baez had property in Palo Alto where I stayed for awhile but the cops were constantly harrassing the residents and they were in protective mode. I finally left spreading my time between Morro Bay and San Diego somehow ending up in Tahoe. Now I'm living in the hi desert with the joshua trees, the coyotes and the quail. Life's good.
