Give an "ex" another chance??? Yay or nay?

Thanks everyone for givin me so much helpful feedback. I finally worked up the courage to tell him yesterday morning I CANT DO IT. Then I came home from work at 6pm to find a 4 page handwritten letter on my bedside table that his roomate had dropped off for him. It's crazy that I wanted to hear alllll of the stuff he wrote in the letter while we were dating (especially the last 2 months of the relationship when i was super unhappy) and for the entire month after we broke up (when he knew I thought we had made a wrong decision to end things).


But of course thats the way things go--- people dont want things until they cant have them anymore. It just sucks to know that someone you still care about hurts badly and you have the ability to make them happy again; but at the cost of sacrificing your own feelings.

Speaking as someone who was given the second chance, I say one chance should be given, unless the other person was abusive or something, if feelings are still there and because everyone can change. Speaking as one who failed his second chance, the risk is still there, but there should be no third or fourth chances.
