    if the confined space is too small the particle will force it's way out.

    particles cannot be confined or be forced too close to each other because of the heisenberg uncertainty principle, and the pauli exclusion principle

    a particle can also "tunnel" through an otherwise solid barrier.

    so i guess sometimes particles can sortof slip away
