No way in hell they'll give up hell. It's their bread and butter. How else are they gonna frighten small children?

The potential of a hellish afterlife is very possible, however. But monotheists are in error to presume suffering can be eternal, because Nothing is eternal, thus Hell, being something, cannot last forever.

I believe we are our own god (we as in a collective soul) and within us there is all good and all evil, the outcome is a result of the choices we make.
is there a higher being, creator of everything, i dont say no, but I dont know.
It doesnt trouble me the origin of my existance, at least not as much of what am I doing with it.
I do believe that we part of everything that surrounds us, but also that we as individual have an amazing power that is either misused or underappreciated, or simply undiscovered.

Even when there are days I don't believe in God, I'm sure in those days, God still believes in me.

I don't believe in god, but I also don't deny the possibility of one existing. I find religions and spirituality extremely interesting but I personally don't feel the "need" to believe in anything.

I want to believe in god to see my family again when this life is over. I care for them, if for any reason im not allowed to or i wont be given the chance. My answer would be hell no. If i can then id say yes. Since this answer cant be rational i just dont have a fuckin clue.

its a big universe with no reason more different kinds of things then anyone has ever thought of or immagined cannot live within or beyond it. and certainly no such limits on yet to be clearly if even ever capable of every being clearly immagined other contexts.

where BELIEF is full of crap is simply, not that anything ever immagined or even all of it, couldn't exist, but rather that for everything that ever has been there are likely to be hundreds, if not billions of other possibilities that have yet to be.

so it isn't that gods can't or arn't likely to exist because of beliefs thinking too big; the don't. if anything the're thinking waaaaaaaaaaaay to SMALL!

so i believe in lots of things, in there being a diversity of lots of things, far more wonderous then any known or immagined belief has, or ever can, even begin to immagine.

now yes i believe there is something big, friendly and nontangable, and a lot of little, friendly and nontangble somethings too. like, but by no means limited to, the ghosties of little furry creatures with big sharp teeth that are fun to have for friends and that curl up on top of your covers to keep your heart happy and be there for you and for wonderfulness itself in your dreams, and sometimes even when you're awaike and someplace doing something or going somewhere.

the thing about all that, it's all lovely and wonderful and quite likely in some sense true, is just that, other then encouraging us to want to avoid causing suffering, (because remember, the more of it there is, the more likely you are yourself to experience the short end of it), well that's pretty much the whole deal of what it has to do with the simple reality of it being up to us to avoid screwing everything up for each other.

no god is going to stop us from doing so. i'm not saying i know why, though i've got a pretty good idea; and i'm definately not saying it or they can't, just that objectively it doesn't take much to observe that it/they,re, not in the habbit of doing so.

so it's up to our own self-dicipline to deal with that, to avoid screwing everything up for each other, because without restraining ourselves from doing so, that's just what we're doing. not by some arbitrary cookbook of comandments or anything like that, but by the incentives we are togather creating for each other all the time, usually without the slightest idea of doing so.

so there may be gods, or a god, but it is still up to us. the conditons we experience are created not by gods, or a god, who might also exist, but by all of us togather, how what we do all adds up togather statisticly to create them.

    I do believe in God.
I d believe in God even if I wasnt born and raised in a religious family.
To me, it is very logical to believe that there is a God , or atleast something " higher ".

I've been an atheist since I was about 8. Theres a lot to the universe to be understood, an I think life is incredible.

But is there a sapient figure in the sky judging people and bowling during thunderstorms? That doesn't sound appealing. Or honestly, even make sense.

    But whatever tingles your bits.

You put my thoughts perfectly into words here :). I highly doubt there's a God who judges though, and I can't believe it created us like his image. It's not like a person and does not think like a person.

There are countless entities who think like people and have powers to shape their own destinies, who not only judge, but good judgment is the key to their survival, that you might even call them gods with a little 'g'.

i really don't know what to believe. i just really find it hard to beleave that one religion alone is the right. now don't get me wrong, i really am not all knowing when it comes to what's what and the who's who within the different religions. the one thing i do know is that i was raised a methodist. and while visiting various churches growing up, i came to notice that when the paster would chande than the message and/or lesson would change along with it. therefore i tend to to be undecided all though i do believe that there is something greater than ourselves.

Yes well, maybe :). But I guess that would count for every thinking individual then and I can't see the average human being as a god, not even a small one.

Even an amoeba has some control over its own destiny. It can choose to crawl over there and get smooshed or the other way and get eaten, so it, too, is a god, though with a really small 'g'.

I believe of God, not as a being, but as the initial spark that eventually lead to the evolution and the "creation".
