    ACTS ACTS ACTS ACTS...

everyone forgets God's wrath [albeit a small wrath] in Acts...when the apostles learnt hat that guy doesnt give all his money from selling his farm of whatever for alms he drops dead, then when they find out the wife knew too, she drops dead...

also there is the other guy who gets consumed by maggots and worms

    Just lovely, Libertine.

I love how you guys call Christians bad because we don't agree with other people's religious beliefs, you call us intolerant yet the atheistical section of this board can outright call our beliefs horse shit?

    Double-standard, Double-standard, DOUBLE-STANDARD

    To save your soul maybe?

Edit) And Libertine, if you believe we have no soul, what do you have to lose by believing in God? What is the downside?

    Proof of a "soul"?

In the ancient Greek, the word "psuche" (soul) is where we developed the term "psyche".

The downside? Ha ha ha ha...

TIME, MONEY, RATIONAL THOUGHT, FREEDOM, and being associated with the most horrendous mass murderer of all-time who happens to be the greatest hypocrite of all-time.

Calling oneself "Love" and inventing a "Hell"...

But, since there is NO evidence, why should I believe? Why shouldn't I believe in Buddhism? Taoism? Hinduism? Native American Church? Or that Satan is God?

Because there is NO REASON to do so that I've found yet. You want to contribute and give me one or two?

Besides, being a magician, I see how gullible the general populace truly is.

This is true. I have yet to see a good explanation for why people are allowed to slam Christians, yet if Christians do the same back, we're shot down.

It is a double standard. I've come to accept the fact that several atheists on this board have a certain logic that they're allowed to use to defend their beliefs, or non-beliefs, but no one else is allowed to participate. They seem to make up the rules as they go along. It is hypocritical.

The risk of believing in the wrong one.

Pascal's wager doesn't carry much weight with anyone, or it shouldn't. Believing because "shit, I might as well believe" is a dumb reason. Plus, with the thousands of deities out there to believe in, you're taking a big risk in picking the wrong one. Maybe all these "god fearing" christians are fearing the wrong god, and Odin is gonna come one day and kick some asses.

Actually, in No other religion in the world (besides maybe a few doomsday cults) does it say that "god will come down, and smite all the unbelievers into eternal hellfire". In Islam, yes, but hellfire is not permanent. In Judaism, Sheol lasts for about a year and then you are "cleansed" enough to join their heaven. Buddhism/Hinduism/Paganism/Wicca? Reincarnation. For the record, also, in Norse Mythology when the end of days comes along, the gods LOSE the battle. Search up Ragnarok somewhere, nowhere does Asatru believe that Odin's gonna come down and have a field day on christians.

There is no risk in believing in the wrong one, unless you don't believe in the Christian God, in which, you could suffer for all eternity because of your choice. I've heard the whole, "If God exists then why does He put people in hell?" argument, and the answer to that, is that God does NOT put people in Hell. They put themselves there, they have a choice to believe in God or not.

am I supposed to sit you down and witness to you? Campbell34, Jesusdiedforyou, and many others around here have done that. However, when we say "God spoke to me", you won't believe it anyway. So really, what am I supposed to give you? If it comes down to it, the whole "why not" reason makes sense at some level.

Libertine you know what I mean when I say SOUL. You're getting me on a technicality, on the greek definition of a word....

I never said you had to join a church. Believing in God and Christ is something completely separate from those things. You can be saved without even entering a church. The temple will be your body.

Yes, Hell is there, but God does NOT send people there. And if all people believed in God and followed him, Hell would be empty. It's your choice, Believe in God or don't, but if you don't want to spend your life with God, then you're choosing not to be with him in the afterlife either. Hell is your choice, it's your decision, and no one is going to make it for you. You are in control of where you want to spend the rest of your life.

Really mate, I can witness to you until my mouth goes dry. I can tell you my whole life and how I was led to Christ. Any christian on this board can do the same, but as I said above, if anyone ever says "God spoke to me" will you believe them?

there are different forms of reincarnation, some reincarnations punishes you [for example, if you eat like a pig, and hound food, the Bhavaghad Gita gives an example that you wil return as a pig...and if you lust, a dog]...and i think in ISKCON [an offbranch of hunduism] there is a permenent afterlife [as demonstrated in one of the plates in the version of the BG that i read]

In Hinduism, though, reincarnation isn't eternal. You can get out of it, or work your way out of it.

God is all-powerful, right? If he wanted everyone to go to heaven, everyone would go to heaven. So, according to the christian theology, yes a person may make choices that have the consequence of hell and whatnot, but it's definitely god that puts you there.

God is all powerful, and he wants everyone to go to heaven. God gave us the key to heaven... It was hung on four nails.

So how many people actually reach out and grab that key? It's your choice to accept Jesus, it's your choice to take it. Throughout your life there will be people who tell you, Jesus is The Way! You can get to heaven, but it will be your decision to be delivered from hell.

"but it's definitely god that puts you there."

God won't put you there. Showing in life that you want nothing to do with Christ/The Lord, you'll receive the exact same in the afterlife. You reap what you sow.
