Ok so.... Here is my question. How hard is it for someone from Europe (from place like Macedonia for ex) to come to study there?
For two years, I will finish my high school and with my bf, we have some plans to go to college in America, not in Europe.
Also, it shouldnt be very expensive and there should be a place (like some town) near where we will work (coz it is imposible to come only with money that will be given from our familyes?)
    Thanks

Sweet. I'm planning to apply there next year too, but my parental units may try to put a stop to that. But we won't let that happen, will we?
    Of course not!

    $$$$$$$

In Canada, at least, it will be expensive. Most of the cost of university is subsidized. For foreign students, they pay it all.

For example at UBC for an undergraduate student of arts, tuition is $4,174.
For an international student, the cost would be $17,577. Also, student visas rarely allow more than 12 or 15 hours of work per week.

Maybe we'll see each other there. Where do you live right now, and what year are you in school?

I'm not sure if anybody mentioned this previously, but the University of Wisconsin - Madison is pretty good. A bit difficult to get into, but it's amazing. Madison is known for its protests, riots, etc. In fact, my mother told me that if I get in, I'm not allowed to stay in the city over halloween, due to the goings-on. The people are really cool too, but you kinda have to be into partying. A friend of mine went there, (she's not the party girl type person) and she transferred out because the people were a bit TOO laid back for her.

for those of you who asked about berkeley, its extremely fucking hard to get into it, it was my first choice but i didnt get in, anyways, because its like 60% asian and like 30% indian it is definately no longer a hippie school. its a school for nerds who do nothing but study so yea. everyone i know who is going there is a nerd to the max so yea.

    St Thomas University
Fredericton NB Canada, its VERY VERY cheap when it comes to tuition, but the student teacher ratio is very seldom over thirty. They actually know your name. Its all liberal arts.

I can think of supporting hippie stuff except for college. You attend college for academics. However, if you are in NY you should probably look at some of the SUNYs like Plattsburgh, Cortlandt, Purchase or New Paltz.

Does anyone have any suggestions for hippie colleges in Colorado. I presently live in Ohio and I've been looking at Antioch pretty seriously. The Problem is my mom (who i'm incredibly close to) has to move to Colorado Springs next summer, soon after I graduate highschool. I'd rather stay close to the one family member who has always supported and cared for me but I want to find a college thats very liberal and well hippieish.

    thanks so much
    love

    "Unity College" in Unity, Maine.
It's a small school and it's too hippie for some people. I mean it's a 1/2 hour from a medium sized city and you're really way out in nature. It's a really good school with programs such as Horticulture, Wildlife Ecology, Adventure Therapy, Wildlife Conservation, Marine Biology, Aquaculture... to name a few.
