These "taking a break" threads are interesting: they make me wonder if I should be more considerate of HF's role in my life. I just post here because I like it--I enjoy the people, the humor, the conversation. None of it ever seems to affect me emotionally, or at all really. I just log in here and then I post some stuff, and then I move on with my day. If I see a post or thread chain that I find annoying or offensive, I either partake in the debate and have fun with it, or I just shrug and leave it alone. Ged, you've made me reflective.
Off topic, but I find it fascinating that the last execution by guillotine in France was in 1977. That doesn't seem that long ago.
^ Being a living example of your beliefs is a hell of a lot more effective than debating someone who doesn't agree with them.
It is best to just drop your 2 cents in a thread these days. But yeah, when that gets misinterpreted or a critical response, or a response with good questions I can still get sucked in at times. But used to be more.
The last time I made a goodbye thread I posted it and then I signed out and I never returned. Wasn't this forum though, just another forum I used to frequent.. First 2 days are hard but then you get over it. You might even have a couple of days off, come in and read a thread and just be like eh, I'm not missing much.
Pretty much what I do. Read thread title, post first thing that comes to mind. I think. That's how I'd take it. 2 cents ain't much, so it's Iike dropping pointless info but info nevertheless. Not self fault someone doesn't like it. Which is interesting considering I'm harassed and picked on for doing just that sometimes.
