I hear some people have attacked Google Streetview cars taking unauthorized pics. One can only defend one's privacy in limited ways. You can't shoot down a satellite (yet)... probably not one brick alone. And I'm sure really good aim and a strong arm might. There is also another way to use bricks. Perhaps if 1 million people went to the (insert choice here..) and removed the bricks from their buildings and refused to give them back. I'm sure it would have the same effect as throwing them.
Perhaps you'd like to explain to us, why in this thread you have attacked: 1. The consumer agency trying to protect us from gov't and corporate spying. 2. Microsoft (who is not the subject of this thread). 3. Me (who you falsely claimed "allowed" google to index this site). Yet you have not said much about google other than to infer they are so much better than all of the above, and shouldn't be attacked, right? Why?
Remove the bricks from buildings..... I always liked the idea of the people ceasing the flow of money. If we all horded it (not in banks) and quit buying stupid shit, companies would eventually lose a lot of sales and some would start turning belly up. After that government and corporations would start to sweat once they saw what happens when the people control the money.
No Skip, in fact I have not said they shouldn't be attacked... What I said quite clearly was that they are no different then any other corporation. To add to that, listening to one corporation's lies against another, is letting them control your actions.
This would work except for one small fact. Big US companies no longer derive most of their income from the USA. So if sales fall in the US it barely registers in their Income Statements. This is the real problem. But a WORLD-WIDE boycott of certain corporations would definitely get their attention! These same multinational corps that now have less interest in the US cause it's no longer their big customer, are the ones still influencing our gov't so they can continue to make outrageous profits with little or no tax or regulation... We are becoming a third world nation where huge multinationals can come in and tell our gov't what to do so they can make even more profits and exploit our system even further, without regard to the human consequences, which are clear for all to see today.
What you fail to even realize is that the Consumer Watchdog advocacy group is a NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, not a corporation. http://www.consumerwatchdog.org/ If you can't see the difference, then please vacate the thread cause you're only showing your ignorance, and I won't let you post such obvious lies on here, or derail the thread further.
Non-profit just means the books have to read zero or below at the end of the quarter. That means they spend all of it on salary, bonuses, or useless shit. It really means nothing.
It means, esp. in this case, they have nothing to sell. Big difference between that and corporations that sell you crap that allows people to spy on you! Why don't you go and LOOK AT THE WEBSITE AND LEARN SOMETHING INSTEAD OF REVEALING SUCH IGNORANCE. what is with ppl on this site today. really reaching my limit of ignorance tolerance. This thread is about GOOGLE, if you don't get it, you'll be banned from this point on.
Welcome to my world. Anyway, Here is a download link to a hosts file that should keep most of google out of anyone's computer. http://rapidshare.com/files/444697252/1hosts.txt Instructions. 1) Download the file to your desktop. 2) In XP go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc 3) In this directory is a file there called " hosts " You can delete it or rename it to -hosts 4) Copy over the file you downloaded into c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc 5) rename the downloaded file from 1hosts.txt to **" hosts "** NO EXTENSION should be added Blocking google is hard. REAL HARD. But if you're worried about privacy, this will keep 95% of their shit off a computer
I think Firefox has an anti-google filter. I tried it before but it made the browser nearly unusable as I recall. I had to stop it cause google is in EVERYTHING, and now Facebook too is monitoring everything via those links that appear on every fuckin' site now (but not on hipforums!).
I hate those little "Share this on Facebook" boxes that pop up when I'm trying to read something, they're irritating. If I wanted to share it on facebook I'd create a fucking page and share it. Facebook has become this whore that's trying to deep-throat the internet and everything on it.
You got it! great line, btw! Here's how I see it.... Facebook = C.I.A. Google = N.S.A. Not sure if they share their data, even though they're supposed to now... Between their two databases, the spies should be able to track way more than 50% of all Internet traffic, world wide, far more within the USA. Add that to all their other capabilities and I expect little escapes their notice.
You and love-laughter have said that google spies on us, is it through cookies? How do they do it? I'm somewhat uneducated when it comes to computers. I know how to use them, that's about it.
They have a deadly arsenal in their spy box utility belts. Everyone knows about the old fashioned "cookies." Some of the things you can add to that are. Flash-cookies. (LSO) Router data dumps. (They parse their router logs to see where IPs came from and went.) Browser signatures. (Each browser has a unique signature that allows it to be tracked.) Share databases with yahoo, facebook, etc. (If your IP logged into Facebook and then showed up on Yahoo. They can create a map of where you went) Flash cookies are the biggest thing at the moment to worry about. Their the most effective tool they have. That's why it's best to configure your hosts file to stop your computer from talking to them. In short, your computer can't send them the requested information if it can't find them.
I have no clue if google and or facebook or other online places may be part of some big conspiracy to collect information. I doubt it though. If I wanted to collect information on people's internet activities and track where they were going, I sure as hell wouldn't set up things like facebook and google. Well, not as a means to collect the information. Perhaps as a red herring for people so that they ignore that EVERYTHING they do on the internet, from the moment you connect your computer, is tracked. Not just where you go, or how often you go there or what path you took to get there... EVERYTHING A 100% complete record of everything that you do, regardless of how, where or by what sneaky means you think you may know to stop 'them' from tracking it. It all goes through your ISP... Why would someone invest money into anything else to get that info? How many start-up ISP's jumped into existence in the last 40 years? All of them of course... lol To me, worrying about someone tracking me seems to be a monumental waste of time, as I already know they are. If it really bothered me, I would get disconnected from the net and never log on again.
