Goths.

I think emo kids are just too focused on trying to "feel good" and then they end up failing, not realizing that lifes not about having that "happy feeling" all the time, they get too tied up in their emotions, and bleat for the silicon world. and once they attain what they think is silicon perfection, realize that life isn't like that, and their lost in a permanent depression.

Goth kids, I dunno, like i said I have a friend but here's a theory that he proposed to me 1 day. From what I gather, they have a fantasy of themselves that the prjected "them" fails to live up to. So they take on the fantastical "them untill it's what they become. Now we've debated over this because I say that the fantastical *is* "them" and that the face persona they take on is them forcing their fantasy on "the world"

 

agreed... except, most goth folks I know don't have defeatist attitudes and aren't mopy. In fact, they're usually crazier party animals than I am (I hung out with the gothies last night at the bar and got licked by a couple of them... again. Fun people )

 

i was Goth back in the 80's & 90's and we weren't all depressed and cutting our selves. Some were depressed. It was all about the music and believe it or not the fashion. There are all different kinds of goths - cyber, romantics, edwardians, etc. it's really unfair and judgemental to through them in with the emos; any goth woth their salt that has been in the scene and has some age on them would be just a tiny bit pissed to be thrown in with the Hot Topic CLones. ((peace))

 

i love them all, they're freaky and they get your attention, they make you all so angry just by the way they dress, you loony bastards

 

Maybe theres something you like about them but your too afraid to admit it.

 

I was a goth up until recently, and chances are if you were to look at me now you'd think I still was. IMHO goths are some of the coolest people I know, they tend to be very sympathetic, romantics who care dearly for their friends, and as stated above, fucking wicked party animals. You hate what you consider a goth, but keep in mind that might not be what a goth is like at all, I lived in that sub-culture for over 5 years, and I can honestly say, that I had never been happier. I think that alot of the time people dress like the music they listen too...look at those kids who love rap and walk around with there pants by there knees. It's funny that I often dont see people complain about them....

 

well... they have the right to be who they want. the same with hippies too.
they might say the same about you. like for example:
"i hate steriotypes, ones that havnt taken a walk in our shoes too"

 

i think goth is a thing of the past. i see alot of similarities between goth and emo but i think punk evolved into goth, and goth evolved into emo. its all just all just new and slightly different ways that kids try to fit in with eachother. i dont really care about them either way, im fine with just raging on them with my friends because it is kind of entertaining seeing emo kids talk about death and cutting and stuff, cuse theyre just really stupid, its allmost like a drug, i think the government should be more involved with ending stupid little trends like emo instead of spending bilions of dollars and a war on drugs that theyll never win. but whatever, its a stupid phase that certain people go threw. fuckin high school.

 

I think it's just they are unsure and going through certain stages as teens. Going through a million stages and not yet knwing who you are make you pissed and wanna be alone, sinks you into a depression so they go goth or emo for a while. Of course doing so most times because all that they see are kids in black and that brings out how they feel inside.

 

Well said. I was going to point out that Goths have been around before the Hot Topic crowds of today. It was about music, books, art and even fashion. Seeing beauty were someone else could not.
Do go on being hateful because of some teens who are looking for some attention.

Hippies don't want to be looked down on..Si don't do it to someone else just because the don't look or think like you.

 

the goth kids rarely stay that way for long,. starts about 8th grade and goes till about senior year in high school. I work with this one kid who is a few years ahead of me, and was a wicked gothic satanist in high school. He cut his hair and wears more "normal" clothng now.

We laugh about how freaky he looked in high school. he admits it was a phase that he got over.

He dropped the chains and black cloths once he started smoking. now we just chill out back of work and are good friends.

 

I just don't like the people who talk about suicide and cutting themselves all the fucking time. Life is there to have a good time with. There may be shit in the world, but you have to find the good too. Life is too short to just mope around wishing you were dead.

 

Many Non-Goths talk about cutting & killing themselves.

 

Just random but my friend told me this last night, I wish my lawn was emo so then it would cut itself.

yeah i just dont really like emos either.. they remind me of a gothic type hanson group.. i dont know... and they are trying to take over the rock music scene with there emo bands.. ahhh.. go away

 

Yeah people always think I'm goth or emo because I wear alot of black but I don't cut myself and I'm definatly not depressed. I just like to wear black a lot, it's my favorite color.

 

Yeah, you're definately not gothic or emo if you aren't depressed and cutting yourself....

 

my sister is emo. but i know the real her and still love her. that's just how she expresses herself. though some of her friends do creep me out.

 

I don't hate them. I do find about 80% of the ones I've met rather annoying though....
