Yick not a particle fan myself but to each their own. Green Day isn't bad but its not something I'd personally pick to listen to. I used to love the album: Insomniac. I still think that its a badass album and dookie is fun too. Personally I like a lot of reggae, and then like Phish, The Dead, Disco Biscuits, STS9, hip-hop, and some good DJs. Then again a lot of people hate my taste in music so have fun and listen to what you want.
You can fall in love with anything when you're shrooming. I like Dookie and that's about it. I haven't heard much of their albums in-between Dookie and American Idiot, but AI is bad. Has anyone else noticed the similarity between Jesus of Suburbia and Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire? The best part of the song is the part that sounds like somebody else's song.
fuckin hell, folks always have to be taken predictable cheap shots green day, though having some week and sketchy qualities at times are in general a decent band do they deserve the amount of media backing they recieve, well, probably not, but who does really? and even if they did you'd still slag them on the basis that they're 'sellouts' how about we just apreciate music for what it is, music, track by track, pre-conceptions and lables are fuckin lame, and more often then not folks are just regurgitating ignorance green day was part of the soundtrack of my youth, I wasn't neccessarily a big fan myself, but they were one of the voices and sounds of my generation it's pretty difficult to slag anything of thiers up till and including dookie(wicked album, heard in the background of many a road hockey game). Now I can understand how some may not like them now, but let's get the reason why straight: it's not because they're sellouts or poor musicians, no sir, call it like it is, you simply don't connect with that music, others do. I do, still not a huge fan but I can even apreciate american idiot. They're speakin the language of the masses, maybe they dumb shit down a bit lyricly but in terms of vocals, harmony, depth and the over all flow of the album as a story (yes, it is a concept album) they've produced something of quality here.
