Maybe those things aren't what drive her. No point making judgements until we witness more of her life.

When she gets older I picture her being a key figure in the environmental movement, donating nearly all of the money she makes into funding it.

I never thought I would agree with Vladimir Putin, but on this I think he is spot on:

Vladimir Putin dismisses Greta Thunberg as a 'poorly informed teenager' over UN speech | Daily Mail Online

Vladimir Putin took aim at teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg today, calling her a 'poorly informed teenager' who was being 'used by adults'.

The Russian president said the 16-year-old should 'tell developing counties why they should live in poverty' over her campaign to cut fossil fuel use.

At an energy forum today Putin told the audience he did not share the excitement about the Swede's United Nations speech last month.

The schoolgirl electrified the UN summit in New York when she denounced world leaders for failing to tackle climate change, unleashing the outrage felt by millions of her peers by demanding: 'How dare you?'

Putin told the energy conference, adding it was deplorable that Thunberg was being used by some groups - which he did not name - to achieve their own goals.

Chairing a session titled 'Energy Partnership for Sustainable Growth' at an energy forum in Moscow, Putin said: 'I may disappoint you but I don't share the common excitement about the speech by Greta Thunberg.

'No one has explained to Greta that the modern world is complex and different and...people in Africa or in many Asian countries want to live at the same wealth level as in Sweden.

'Go and explain to developing countries why they should continue living in poverty and not be like Sweden.'

US President Donald Trump mocked Thunberg and Canadian Member of Parliament Maxime Bernier called her alarmist and mentally unstable.

Thunberg said their mockery of children who were protesting showed her message had become 'too loud to handle'.

Putin said young people who paid attention to environmental issues should be supported, adding: 'But when someone is using children and teenagers in personal interests, it only deserves to be condemned.

    Yes.
While living in a Mansion and a few million in the bank for herself her donating some of it to funding the environmental movement should be easy.
    But hey.
    Wait.
Hasn't she said the plantet is doomed in 12 years time if nothing is done about carbon or whatever?

    DOOMED I tell you.
    DOOMED!

The entire world ecology is collapsing with the fish dying, the insects dying, the plants dying, etc. and you are worried about people living in the third world and how Putin would stand to lose a few billion dollars. Your compassion is only exceeded by your lack of vision.

Not a problem. I collect all their gibberish and use it against them. Rest assured, they already tend to die younger and reproduce less often, and my work will encourage them to speed it up a little. Maybe half of them, if that many, actually comprehend this simple fact even when I tell them point blank, and they just keep feeding me all the bullshit I require. Little kids who cuss like sailors and talk smack to each other in online video games tend to catch on the fastest, because they already play against bots. They hate my guts and call me a bot, and I laugh my head off.

You can run, but you cannot hide from your own corrupt soul, not with modern automation! Academics already have the lowest reproductive rates of the workaholic population of Japan, the US, and Eu, which are all imploding faster than any others, and I intend to see just how low those figures can go. What better place to begin population control, then by giving mindless idiots all the cheap thrills and instant gratification they could ask for? The video gaming and porn industry are already heavily invested in the technology. Using the latest fact checkers and lie detectors, the bots can be their fucking wet dream come true, then become their next fucking wet dream, and so on ad infinitum. Let them eat cake, if they insist on being fat headed.

Academics in particular, will either learn to share their words and play nice, or find their own people developing such technology at an increasing rate. You either use to your advantage, or your detriment, and there is no more cheaper or efficient way to deploy the technology. Over a trillion dollars was invested in AI research last year alone, and the shit is about to hit the fan in every way imaginable. The more mindless the rhetoric, the more people will be compelled to adopt the use of lie detectors, while you can already use them with a simple cellphone. Go ahead, keep talking about the truth as if it were something abstract.

Haha. Yes, she's going to live in a mansion.
I'm not saying she won't, but how the hell would anyone know?
It suits your narrative to paint this imaginary picture of the future
but the weird thing is you then base opinions on this possible (unlikely) future.

And I've heard this nonsense a few times..
"it's not fair for us to tell developing countries they can't do what we did"
But the alternative is we all die? Yeah. Life's not fair.
We, the western world, fucked up.. we need to loudly proclaim that and change the way WE live and then yes, expect the developing worlds to do better than we did.
What's more we could help them develop, since we got where we are fucking up our collective home.

Greta isn't saying they have to live in poverty. Twisted words of a twisted mind.

The first world is in a position to develop cleaner technology the third world can then use in their development.
In fact I remember reading an article a while back that rural areas of Africa are actually embracing and utilizing solar technology more than first world countries because on a small scale it's the simplest and cheapest energy technology available.

And Russia's main exports are fossil fuels so we really dont need to be listening to Putin on this one.

Al Gore's prediction of zero arctic ice by 2015 didn't come true.
Polar Bears are thriving in population, and could swim for miles and miles without drowning
So the climate doomsdayers needed to come up with a new strategy. Thunberg enters the stage.

I wonder what their new mascot will be in 12 years from now, after the world is supposed to end?

    So what's the conspiracy for?
Who wants to pretend we're in danger and why?
I have asked a few of you several times and that selective deafness seems to come into play.

I learned recently there is a place where polar bears are thriving because the ice isn't freezing the way it used to, and now the way it freezes (due to warming) means there is nowhere for seals to hide and they are easier prey.

    An imbalance is an imbalance.

Areas of the ocean full of jellyfish. Imbalance.

Wikipedia says the current population trend of polar bears is unknown.

You are quite correct in what you say there.
And let’s not forget that we should follow the money with all this climate change stuff.
Companies and businesses and Governments all have a vested interest in promoting and selling anything to do with so called carbon reduction.
Including Thunderberg and Mommy And Daddy and her Family.
Meanwhile of course India and China and the rest will just keep at it, and whatever we do will be a drop in the ocean compared to all the countries and governments who say:
    Up Yours!

The north pole is completely gone in the summer, and shipping companies around the world are predicting exactly when Greenland, Canada, and Russia will thaw. I'd check with their websites, as they tend to keep more up to date on these things.

Follow the money trail, you say?

Have you followed the money trail that leads to the fossil fuel industry? ..or?

By any measure, the US really is a bad guy here-just look at the per capita figures on carbon emissions for instance. India and China bashing is a classic red herring. How a group of people in this country can be so deliberately clueless about the science, particularly the R’s, is shameful. If the US doesn’t change it’s ways, the rest of the world will tell us to....and they won’t be asking. I applaud Greta.

Even if polar bears can manage swimming the increasing distances now and their population is thriving currently (seems arguable as already stated), they will get it harder in their original habitats in the coming decades.
Just because Al Gore was wrong in his very specific prediction doesn't mean climate change is a hoax lol. 6-eyed is really on a roll with rhetoric nonsense again

There is already evidence polar bears are mating with other species, as they are forced to share more of the same territory. There are at least 40,000 estimated to exist, so if their numbers drop dramatically it should quickly become noticeable. Without all the ice, they must retreat more often to land and slowly adapt more to the land.
