    Gerard Henderson on Nobel Bureaucrats:

“I am not surprised that Greta Thunberg failed to win the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize. After all, international bureaucrats of the kind that judge these prizes and hang around the UN and Nobel Prize places are heavily into flying. Heavily into flying,” Henderson said.

“And the idea that you would give an award to someone who is heavily into flight-shaming, as she is, is most unlikely. So I’m not surprised. I don’t think she’ll win any award that affects the right of international figures to fly around the world telling us all to reduce our emissions.”

Henderson would be an unknown to all of you (a columnist). But he is spot on here, and he also at least one crusty old guy sticking up for Thunberg

Tenuous at best... IPCC whose reports are the source material for Greta and Al Gore already won in 2007.

I get that but they were talking about reducing emissions back then and I'm sure the Nobel committee understood the implications. It comes off a bit salty.

    * Quantity is No sign of Quality
    * Why; if you don't care...would you bother?
    * Some of us have jobs and not the time to do so - is writing your profession then?
    - or is it a OCD?.
    * So why do you think - as indicated above from the number of hits you are getting - doing so ?
    - I am unaware of the dragon of which you speak
    * Considering the amount of time and effort on a subject that you clearly are passionate about, do you not think that you need someone to give you order, discipline and direction and order to focus on delivering your message?
    - Your over-complicated and long posts are a sign that whilst your mind may have the theoretical merit of truth, your communication skills lack the succinctness of reception - especially as you are only on the second chapter - or is that a different book?
    * Why if you feel it is a stupid website do you make so many comments on it then?
    - Gathering research is one thing, but if interaction causes such distress, don't you think you should not engage?
    * How did Mother Nature offer fame and fortune?
    * As for a Nobel prize winner - Don't you think you'd better finish it first?
    <>
In short woolleeheron, it seems to me that rather conducting a civil conversation where an exchange of opinions can occur, constructive criticism accepted and comments not treated in a manner that sees a somewhat aggressive response, one should look at them in the manner they sent - and not in angry retort.
I wish you well in your endeavours, but think that you should - take a break - breathe - re-evaluate your processes, in particular, the way you are relating you thoughts, suggestions and proposed alternatives

I'm a linguist, and it requires no less than at least 15 years studying at least six English language translations of the Tao Te Ching and at least a dozen more years writing poetry to do what I do. I've had mathematicians whose work is classified ask me to write for them, I've spent decades discussing philosophy and physics with professionals, including one particular particle physicist and a cosmologist. It is impossible to have a civil discourse with people who reject their own dictionary definitions for words and insist on babbling nonsense. I come here to collect metaphors for my book, precisely because people babble nonsense, and having a civil conversation with them about anything more complicated than who killed JR is impossible.

When you become a linguist, then I will listen to your opinions on how to use language and how to do my damned job. Your post indicates you know almost nothing about either me personally, or what I do, yet have strong opinions on both, merely because I don't fit into your ideas about reality and what is worthwhile.

I hope you all realise that this thread will likely last until this Kid is around 100 years old, as she will be in the limelight until and long after she pops her clogs.
Most of us will be long dead and buried.
Meanwhile Thunderberg will be laying beside her walking frame and mobility scooter which is on charge, being powered by solar energy while she is basking in the sweltering Sun in Antarctic Alaska surrounded by cans and bottles and plastic.

    On second thoughts.
The World will have ended by then as forecast by her and the Extinction Rebellion lot, so no worries either for her or them or us!

They told the Wright brothers man was not intended to fly, because imagination is more important than knowledge, and they had no heart left to imagine the infinite possibilities. If we are all going to be dead or it makes no damned difference, why do you complain so damned much? Be a man!

You cannot piss me off, in fact, I sometimes ask trolls to call me names and spout nonsense, so I can dissect their logic and analyze it linguistically. You didn't think I come here for your ingratiating personality did you? Your crap will likely help me win a five million dollar Nobel Prize and make Greta's dream come true, but I've heard better insults from little kids.

As I previously said, your acceptance of observational comments is poor.
Justifying yourself by listing your achievements seems nothing but bravado, bordering on paranoia
Saying you are only prepared to listen to me if I become a linguist shows a rather restrictive perception on intellect
As renowned as you say you are, I have not heard of you - and ipso facto - you of I.
I don't understand why you are so touchy when you opinions are questioned.
    - Perhaps you could write a book on that?

Your opinions about me obviously don't matter to me, begging the question of why you seem so hellbent on repeating yourself and calling me paranoid. If you had simple questions, I would answer them, but you are not asking simple questions, but making insults and assumptions, providing proof of exactly why I visit websites like this and analyze the bullshit people spout.

The English language requires a little more structure to make any kind of meaningful inferences and deductions but, at a guess, yes it is you. Over half the people I've spoken to admitted they made up their own definitions for words, like children.

Can I suggest you re-read the posts I put and answer the questions that I believe were simple for a lay person; never mind a masterful linguist who is worth consideration of a Nobel prize (when they can complete a few more chapters to their book).
It may assist you in your research, or is that beneath you?

Who Lee Heron are you in real life?
I must keep an eye out for your book - or read up on any that you have/if written :)

I am on the last chapter of my book, which anyone can read for free online. I'm trying to whittle it down, because I have around 250 pages of poetry alone. Its not a fucking novel, and the second chapter alone describes how to reconcile quantum mechanics and relativity, eastern and western philosophy, in a self-consistent, nontrivial, and demonstrable manner using the quantum observer effect. So, ask your questions again, but slowly, one at a time, because you will struggle to comprehend what I say and it is pointless throwing everything at you at once.
