portage de souix is still running , burning 100+ railroad coal cars per day. the flyash or, burned coal dust is kept in a ash pond as slurry, and magically disappears sometime in the night ( into the river) . lots of mecury and other heavy metals.

greta is from sweden. sweden is in europe. scotland is also in europe. braveheart was set in scotland. braveheart was released in 1995. miami rhapsody was also released in 1995. miami rhapsody starred sarah jessica parker. one of sarah jessica parker's first major roles was in footloose. footloose starred kevin bacon.

this is hard to do, since i know literally nothing about the girl. i started with sweden, because that's basically the only bit of info i have to go off of. i didn't even start following this thread until recently, since it was already at like 20 pages before i put together that she's the girl all the dumbasses on facebook were accusing of eating tide pods. i just happened to click on the thread one day when i was bored and saw 6 eye making fun of her looks, so i got curious to see where that was going to end up. and now i'm curious if my kevin bacon connection will be taken as further proof that i hate her or just that i love trump.

  3. I'm ambivalent about her. It's clearly a publicity stunt and I expect her on the NYT bestseller's list any day now. I wonder what her book will be about!

  4. That plant was supposed to be converted to methane a few years ago, around 2014. Now it looks like it will be running on coal till 2033. They have installed a desulfurization system, so they probably got some kind of exemption in exchange. Which would have come about during the Obama administration.

the unit had a scrubber on the exaust, but when bush was pres he let them take it off. what ever you do, either the ash goes in the river or in the air.

  8. This is actually practiced in some parts of the world and plants in the US have the same capability. What they do is drive the heat rate upward in the furnace, which gives the ash more lift and desiccation. Then they expel high pressure steam upward through the exhaust stack which produces a partial vacuum and sucks more ash upward. As the steam returns to water vapor and then droplets, the ash sticks together and drops back to earth quickly.

You can see the phenomenon from the air. A vertical column of smoke from the stack suddenly stops in mid air and takes a horizontal trajectory according to the wind. Plants in the US are not supposed to do it except when steam cleaning pipes. But if turning a valve at night means you can request half as many trucks to haul the ash in the morning, what's a greedy utility operator to do?

  9. By the way, I'm not anti-coal. Which itself is a preposterous position since the stuff has no expiration date humans would be concerned with. It will burn just as well in a million years as a hundred. However, old fashioned tube-lined furnaces need to go away. They need to be replaced by coal gasification and combined gas and steam cycle turbines. Such a plant was under construction in Mississippi, but has been plagued by design issues and rampant corruption.

It was also going to be a carbon sequestration and recycling operation. It was to be as close to "clean" coal as possible. Which means fuels like methane can be even cleaner. As it is the plant is producing a fraction of its potential, using methane and no coal. It's a failure basically. But the model plant was a success (25MW). Sabotage?

their new unit at the Mermac plant uses a "coffee grinder" and the injector pushes the powdered coal into the furnace, but, its a front fired boiler and not as efficient as the old back fired unit a bad and costly mistake

  11. Imagine how upset people would be if the forests were cut down.
Try telling that to people in Australia who follow the Greens party.
Mining for coal and chopping down trees for use of firewood are two things they are disgusted at.

I have a feeling that people are confusing themselves with what we do to keep our country beautiful with how close earth is to the sun.
If I had it my way i'd keep things how they are but put the onus on everyone that lives on earth that they are to do their bit.

  12. I wrote about a ball mill at a plant in southern Indiana on the Ohio river. It used circulating steel balls and a fan to send only the finest coal dust to the furnace. It was like black baby powder. Between that and the soot it was like I was snorting lines of ash from my barbecue grill. Only the black stuff hurt going in and coming out.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was in “Anger Management” (2003) with Jack Nicholson, who was in “A Few Good Men” (1992) with Kevin Bacon.

President Donald Trump appeared in “Two Weeks Notice” (2002) with Sandra Bullock, who was in “Loverboy” (2005) with Kevin Bacon.

I googled them, didnt come up with it myself

When you hear the term "bioenergy" that for the most part is burning wood. Not really all that much better than coal. And greens seem to be pushing it

  15. Exactly.
It sounds like the Greens can't make their minds up about what they want to do.
They seem to think that burning wood is ok but can't handle it when they see people cutting down trees.
They seem to hate ADANI mining company who are there to help all the geologists get work by mining.
Yet they think that it's the Government's fault when there are floods and bushfires.

Man management is needed by everyone.
There are lots of things that everyone can do to help keep australia beautiful.

    1. Walking to work/school = cuts back on fuel and car emmissions
    2. Use public transport = if you are too far from town take the train or bus.
    3. Buy those fancy looking trolleys to cut back on plastic bag use.
    4. If you are into drinking your own softdrink get a sodastream maker and do it yourself.
    5. Give up smoking and drinking = less cigarette butts in our waterways, less glass in landfill.
    6. Take your old clothes to the salvos instead of dumping them in the forests.

Soda stream, declares better for the environment, reduced plastic.
Also soda stream, all of our flavours are packaged in plastic bottles, and the bottle itself is plastic and also the entire unit is.... plastic. We also developed cheaper, worse plastic to house your beverages in, a plastic bottle with an actual expiry date, so you'll be throwing them away regularly and buying more plastic bottles to drink from, oh and the way we've engineered the plastic bottle flavours ensures that no recycling centre will really want to touch them, just another environmentally friendly company here please support us. Oh and we also cap the bubble gas with plastic caps and wrap the cylinder in plastic.

Soda stream. "making better decisions to better the environment". Soda stream.

It's really not hard to use plastic bottle though to refill water. I re use my plastic bottles for months and they don't gather slim and mould like a soda stream bottle because they're engineered like absolute trash to keep the consumer paying money to drink "healthy". When I'm done with my plastic bottles I personally deliver them to the recycling centre. But the fact is, you cannot enjoy soda stream without using plastic in any way or dimension. It's all plastic still. Every single bit of it from the unit to the flavors to the bottle.

An inexpensive passive carbon capture technology has been developed that doesn't require power. It looks similar to a sheet metal duct, but this one you lay on the ground or stand up and it does its thing all by itself. In the future, cities may be surrounded by ventilation ducts that serve as air purifiers. Just lay them on the rooftops. Other ways exist, including the first self-propelled aircraft, and the problem is the carbon we need to capture right away is already ten miles over our heads. We needed a theory of everything fifty years ago, and there's no doubt things are about to get crazy.

  20. Thank you, Greta, for making this technology possible.
