No, you miss my point. To use hemp in place of our oil use now, we'd need like, 5 earths. Ok I made that number up. But even to make a dent, you'd have to stop growing food and start growing hemp for fuel. But we have 6 billion people who need food, so what, you want to clear cut more forests? It can't work, not as an "environmentalist" solution, because it destroys so much natural land to turn to hemp-cropland. What we need to do is REDUCE fuel use. Wow! a revolutionary concept. It won't happen probably, not without a major change in global mentality. We're in a hard place, for sure, and hemp has it's place in helping...but not for fuel. And it isn't a cure all. Gotta be realistic, ya know?
yea, you're right. lol i re-read that after i posted and realized that you probably mean that it's not only hard, it's pretty impossable. still... the cynicism is true.
i don't even smoke anymore and i think it should be legalized. first off, it would completely eliminate the crime that results from weed dealers. it would also do oodles for the economy. all we would have to do is import it and the government could put a luxury tax on it, and since its so popular it would bring in tons of revenue. yes indeed it should be legalized.
Hemp could take the place of all the trees being cut down. The more trees that go, the more we come to fucking up our climate.
I didn't get a chance to vote in the poll, but I can understand where you're coming from. Perhaps what we need to consider is not legalization but decriminalization. Get the government out of the drug business (and other aspects of our lives as well)! The reason why marijuana and hemp were made illegal in the first place is that monied interests (e.g. DuPont, Standard Oil, etc.) who were trying to promote their products and felt they could have a greater if not total market share by getting government to pass laws curbing the competition.
This is not true! To provide for all the fuel and other non-food needs of our country, we would only need about six to ten percent of the land to be used for industrial hemp growth! Well conservation isn't a bad idea, but I beg to differ on your other points! Hemp is a very versatile crop that can be grown in a variety of climates. Many other countries can priovide for many of their fuel and other needs without having to resort to these needs being imported thereby boosting their economies. Right ON man!....i completely agree...and its funny that so many think pro pot ppl are stupid..damnit its such a goood idea...why doesnt the government think??.lol...peace
The government does think...with their wallets and their ability to attract votes! Elaborating on points made in my first entry for this thread, what will happen often is that large corporations will lobby the government to pass laws that create barriers to the market in which that company is involved. If a politician or politicians is/are sympathetic with such a company's situation, what will often happen is that that/those politician(s) will receive financial contributions in a large enough sum to try to ensure victory for that/those person(s). In turn, the company receives the laws or other perks that they lobbied for. Sometimes the perks come in the form of taxpayers' money!

even if it were legalized, and we tried to save our oil problems with it, millions would still perish. millions, and possibly billions, will perish from the oil crisis, no matter what humans do to try and prevent it.
i did my speech piece this year on why farmers should be able to grow hemp. its a remakable plant. i think marijuana should be leaglized too, but they are not the same plant. i dont think you would be able to do as much with marijuana, it doesnt have as much useable fiber. i have never gotten stoned but i know that marijuana is a great and harmless plant. and hemp could really help our environment. because it grows so well, we could cover the state of north dakota in it, or other states with out much else to offer. 29 other countries grow it, if america did too, we wouldnt have to pay so much for hemp products and you could find them all over the place.
Cannabis has been in use all over the world for god knows how long. By proscribing Marijuana the gov't is encourageing criminality and endagering its people. Drug laws are desguised as Public Health Laws but this is a fisade. By not controlling the purity and potency of drugs (not just marijuana) and turning these factors over to the blackmarket, not only is this contributing to so-called overdoses, but is in fact Destroying Public Health (which it is supposed to be protecting). As a taxpayer (as most or some of you are) I find very disturbing that the money I pay to support the FDA to protect my health, is in fact more likely to cause harm. My solution is to quit my job and to NEVER PAY TAXES TO A CORRUPTED SO-CALLED GOVERNMENT that says that drugs are legal to protect my health, but that then dump waste in my water and pollute my air! FUCK THE SYSTEM -Ian
I am suprised that we had any soldiers left to do this. And isnt it legal in Humbolt? I love this country, but fear this government!
