I like this song called Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace
I pride myself in liking "real" goth music and not liking teen angst "Oh my suburben life is SO horrible" music and yet this song is exactly that.

But if it sounds good it sounds good
    ....and I relate to it...a little..just a little[IMG]

It's a cheap rip-off of Queen's beautiful "Under Pressure" and I think he should be beheaded for stealing their melody and degrading it into that crap.

...I like snoop doggs cover of riders on the storm.Sometimes I think that makes me a bad person, and an even worst Doors fan...but man, I think snoop doggs cool...and Riders on the storm is a beautiful song, and I think snoop appreciates it too :p he does not chop it to bad or anything. I've had friends who were a little ashamed of me, but you know what? I just don't care, I think he treated it well...it's a great remix...

Snoop Dog did Riders of the Storm?????? he is dead. He deserves to be stoned (and NOT in the good way). I hope he suffers for that terrible crime. And you're a Doors fan? Are you sure?

Snoop Dog is rap. A vast majority of rap, especially this mainstream shallow made-for-the-moment (I don't even dare to say musician) that was pumped out by the mindless music industry who only cares about making money is absolutely horrible. Nobody like that should even touch a Doors song and I'd love to see him suffer for it. I hate snoop Dog with a passion, more than I hate any so-called musician of today. It's sad that Jim's beautiful art had to be disgraced, degraded and destroyed by this idiot.

..and while we're on the topic of cover songs, I like the Scissors Sister's version of "Comfortably Numb".

well yes, I'm pretty certain I am a doors fan, but I could be wrong...maybe after all these years of unconditional love and dedication, all I needed to do was have you, a complete stranger, point out that I don't really love them...fuck! how wrong I've been, all those wasted years...all those times jims lyrics defined what was going on in my head, and narrated important times in my life...how stupid I've been.

ok, I'm oviously joking. The Doors have been my favorite band since early childhood. my mother raised me on them...I don't think it's a lack of Jim love and appreciation that has made me like this remix. I think that maybe just maybe music is a subjective taste, and that I lived certain expereinces that made hip hop and that type of music make sence to me, certain people i've loved, places i've been showed me it in a different light. I did not used to understand it, now i do. not that I'm rocking out to simply rap, but it's an expansion of my taste, I love the same music I ever did, but just have less hate for the way others express themselves now. More open to the things that get other people off, and not just the things that fill me up. It's good to be open to all types of music, doesn't mean you have to like it, but be open to it, and to others likeing it.

And snoop, I think he's really funny, and cool in a weasily sort of way. And I don't know why but I feel like Jim would have liked this remix. I think it's well done as that style goes. I don't mean disrespect to Jim by any means, hell he brings me to tears regularly, I love him. I just think it's good. And I think if someone feels the same way and wants to formalize his feelings of the song in the form of his own type of expression, by all means to do..

    open up your mind girl.
Besides, ths is a guilty pleasure thread.

Tesla's version of Signs kicks ass. I like it way better than the original. They sing it with more passion.

and by the way stoneing people for their artistic beliefs and expression...I'm not sure if that's really something someone with a John Lennon quote in their sig should be threatening to do...

Snoop Dog is just any other sell-out. Jim was way more. I hate when people sing music that they have no right to be singing. Britney Spears has no right to be singing Satisfaction, but Jimi Hendrix has the right to be singing All Along the Watchtower. Madonna has no right to be singing American Pie, but Crosby Stills and Nash has the right to sing Dear Mr. Fantasy. Does that make any sense?

it makes sence only for the point I would rather listen to those people sing those songs. I'd rather listen to Jimi Hendrix sing all along the watchtower then sean paul or something oviously. but none the less it is subjective. these people prob don't want to butcher the songs they just love them all the same and want to express them in their own personal way. and I don't have to like it, but in the same sence, I'm going to make my best effort not to rip on it.

I've never met a rap fan in my life who's even heard of the Doors.
Anyway, my guilty pleasure is hair metal. I absolutely love hair bands. Hehe.

Hehe yeah. Slaughter, Poison, Guns 'n Roses, Warrant, Night Ranger, Motley Crue, Cinderella, Great White, I love it all. People think that's funny. Well it kinda is...
A rock fan that's never heard of the Doors? Not much of a rock fan.

the thing is though. In the begging snoop was one of the ones who's lyrics meant something. He actually did grow up in the hood and gangs and such. that's why he sang about. He also sang out against police burtality, war poverty and all that. I will say his new stuff is jsut about chicks and getting stoned...but then again a lot of rock guys were too. and calling someone a non-rock fan because of the reasons you stated is lame. I dug rock before I knew the doors. and I hate the dead....does that make me a non-rock fan? a non-psychedelic fan? a non Jam band fan?

they bore the hell out of me. although I probly hate phish more. I like jerry as a person. I don't like their music and find their jams to be boring. I like the first 40 or seconds of casey jones and that's it.here's a list of 10 jam bands I think are better. And I'll exclude guys like hendrix and the airplane.

    quicksilver messenger service
    tea leaf green
    umphrey's mcgee
    north mississippi allstars
    the allman brother
    derek trucks band
    gov't mule
    blea fleck
    canned heat
    ten years after

and that's just as far as rock goes. no bebop or freejazz. you get into that stuff and it's over.

I like the Allman Brothers Band, I like Canned Heat and I love Ten Years After. The guitar in the beginning of I'm Going Home at Woodstock almost gives me heart failure. It's phenomenal and just overpowers me. I'm not big on Phish but the Dead... they're a huge part of my life.
