The only decent bottled Guinness is the Extra Stout. The nitro widget stuff in the bottles is garbage. I bought a six pack of it years ago. I couldn't even finish the first bottle because it was like drinking cold, watered down coffee. There was no body to speak of, and the flavor was bordering on rancid. That is not what Guinness is supposed to taste like, and it gives the real stuff a bad name. Like Burnz says, the only way to drink Guinness is on draught at a pub or good bar. And even the draught in America (which is often made in Canada) isn't half as good as the stuff you get over in Ireland and England, which is brewed in Ireland, where it should be.
Genny beats Budweiser anyday. Hands down! Genesee Brewery is actually now called High Falls Brewery (though they still make Genesee beer), and they do make a few decent beers. They have a new pale bock out, which is a maibock, which is damn good. It's also about $5 for a six pack, which makes it even better. Now Genesee Cream Ale.... that's a REAL classic! That's the kind of beer my grandfathers drank. When I think of a good, cheap old school beer that can be chugged down like water, I think of Genny Cream Ale. Good stuff!
The pint of Guinness I had at the Gravity Bar in the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin was probably the best tasting beer that I've ever had.
