i don't see why you need them, they are illegal in the u.k and there's no issue

we just stab people up instead, and that's a lot harder to do in multiples - unless your a ninja.

    i'm not a ninja.

    yes...:2thumbsup:

How would anyone regulate the price of bullets on the black market? This Chris Rock logic is ridiculous.

Did you not read this sentence? Think about what your saying, If we(USA) have more gun violence than switzerland and its because of the poverty rate in the USA then poverty is the problem, not guns.

You wouldn't have to, if the price of bullets are raised way beyond their station the manufacture of them would go down (the same reason Ferrari doesn't making a zillion cars a year). Therefore depleting the vast amount of ammo to a more conservative number. In other words, the hike in bullets prices would "catch up" to the black market when quantity shrinks....black markets work off the same principle of economics too.

Guns themselves have never been the problem, in fact solving the gun violence in america would be simple as legalizing the current illegal drugs. However we (amercia) are still playing out of the book of Reaganomics, so legalizing drugs or helping the poor is a pipe dream. Tho raising the prices of bullets is right up there in fantasy, i think it would be a better chance of passing than drug reform or the war of poverty.

Then I just break out this gear and reload my own ammo. Could crank out a thousand rounds in a couple of hours.

Come on now, are you actually reading your posts or are you just having a laugh, because your logic is myopic and ridiculous.

Legalizing drugs would in fact curtail the vast amount of gun violence in the US. Most murders are not random shooting sprees, they're specific and are normally in some way related to drugs, whether they be gang hits, territorial disputes, argument over drugs or the main cause of all, the money involved. Our inner cities are sometimes near wars because of gang activity fueled by drug money and trafficking. In fact outside of inner cities the US's crime rate is generally pretty low. Hell the first 3 shootings of the year here in New Haven caused a freakin uproar because in the first shooting, two people were shot, then refused to cooperate with the police what so ever despite having seen their shooter, then two days later another person gets shot and you can hear them on the 911 call talking to someone else who was with them saying to get rid of the drugs before EMTs arrive.

If the bullets prices were to raise, i would hope the materials to make your own would raise as well or better yet ban/illegalize homemade ammunition.

Believe it or not, the majority of gun violence in the Americas are fuel by the illegal drug trade.

I will agree some gun violence would go down if you legalized drug. It would probably greatly improve mexico's current state as well.

Banning homemade ammunition would work about as well as banning guns, in fact maybe less so. There will still be bullet manufacturers, and ferrari would be making a lot more cars if our military used them anything like they use bullets. See what i am saying? Bullets are quite simple to make, as a matter of fact most local shooting ranges will sell you empty shells, if you have ever been to a shooting range you know you have to pick up your spent shells and put them in the correct box. It's just a giant box full of 1000s of empty shells, sorted by caliber.

I just see no way this would work, not in america.

I'd have to humbly disagree. I think that perception is fueled by sensationalistic media. If you watch the news in the country you get a skewed view of things, and leads people to think there's open warfare on the streets which simply isn't true.
Personally, I think alcohol is to blame for more homicide and accidental deaths than other drugs, illegal or not. Here's one little article...

Juarez is more dangerous than baghdad. That's open warfare, buddy. The mexican government would retreat if they weren't fighting on their own soil.

I completely agree with this statement. It's not simple to come up with a solution to the problem, however if I see someone walk into a store and start shooting everyone...I want to be able to walk up behind and save everyone else by shooting the lunatic.

We've had this whole silly discussion before. I'm pretty sure I won it that time, too.

Banning precursers to drugs is the same idea. And now you get carded and often recorded for buying cold meds, and we can't get things like lye or anhydrous ammonia anymore without heavy oversight and registration. What justifies this loss of personal freedom? to keep some guy from making meth and getting high.

The materials, just like those used for making meth, are simple.

Are you going to ban lead? how about the lead weights from vehicle wheels? How about the fact that you could also make a bullet out of anything? How about the fact that you can make a simple gun out of a piece of pipe, in FACT:

The standard murder gun is a .22, often a pistol. They're small, not legally obvious and won't raise any eyebrows, easy to get, cheap, they have cheap ammunition, they're about as loud as a door slamming, and the bullets are actually more deadly than a large caliber in the case of many head wounds, because the bullet ricochets after the initial impact, scrambling your brains.

    And check this out:

    http://www.zoklet.net/articles/2010/08/02/how_to_build_a_.22_caliber_pipe_pistol_70.html

Thats right, I just linked an article telling you how to make the classic murder firearm for well under 20 dollars.

Making a muzzleloader of any caliber you want to fit any projectile you can find is EVEN easier. We're past they days of flintlocks: you can touch the fuckers off with a bic lighter.

They also have a variation for a 12 ga. shotgun, and there's a bunch of other methods and teks floating around.

You can even make fully automatic 1-off guns in your garage, with some basic machining abilities and an understanding of guns.

So, are you going to ban pipe and start doing background checks on plumbers? are you going to start regulating who can get their wheels balanced or buy matches, so they don't pull off the weights and make bullets?

When you make things illegal, you lose control.

Chicago's failed and illegal hundgun ban is a good place to look. That is, at the people still carrying their handguns, shooting criminals.

"when you outlaw guns, only the outlaws have guns"-how is this hard to understand?

And on the subject of outlaws, how about police officers? Do you trust your government SO much that you think they should have deadly weapons to use on you, but you should have none of your own? We"re nowhere needing them now, but if we ever did, well, we'd wish we'd considered that in the past, ehh?

About britan: Yes, they took up handguns and only missed like 6, so now they have NO idea who has illegal guns. And further, the US is FULL of guns, from the last 300 years, from every orgin you can imagine, from muskets to garage guns to flare guns(yeah, each survival kit has a pistol sized RPG in it, ever think of that?) with no clear register of most/any of them. How do you propose to take them up? I sure wouldn't line up to hand in a gun if I had one. Neither would ANY of the US. And again, if the police officers arresting me for having harmless plants have deadly weapons, so will I. if the government was disarmed as well, then we could start talking, because cops wouldn't get shot at, given that they don't have the ability to shoot back.

You're wrong about the MAJORITY of violence, that's talking out your ass. But yes, a lot is fueled by the illegal gun trade. READ THAT AGAIN: it's already illegal. If you legalize it, it won't be there to fuel ANYTHING. If you just legalize drugs, guns prostitution, etc, then nobody will have any reason to shoot at each other, because organized crime will not be lucrative. It will destroy everything from the mafia to prison gangs, as well. There's just no reason to do it if it's all easy to get. You don't have to go to a sketchy guy on a corner to get a gun, and you don't have to go to him for your drugs. It's a pretty simple way to make things safe and clean.

Sorry this is long and rambling. There's so many reasons this is a bloody silly idea, that it's hard to fit them all into one coherent post. Not to mention the number of duplicate threads because people can't read.
