A few weeks ago, I saw some girl laying on her back on the ground, and pushing the smith machine bar up with her feet... and then turning over into a plank position and pushing it up with one leg at a time. So weird. I wouldnt even suggest for people new to weightlifting to do it though, because once you switch over to doing actual squats, it feels A LOT different
i actually saw this for the first time a few days ago. must be a new thing being advocated by somebody i guess.
We went to our local brewery tonight. I have a good number of friends who are outstanding brewers but none of them will help with you first batch. I think I've mentioned this before...it's kind of a thing where everyone has to do their first batch by themselves. There are a few who have some experience but don't have the gear or the room to do it. I have the room and evidently have some great gear (I had no idea...I just have what my wife bought for me). So those guys were like....you really have all that stuff? I said...um..I guess so. So they have the knowledge and I have the room and gear. We're going to start brewing pretty soon. I'm kind of excited about it. I've been reading about it but it will be nice to try it with people who know what needs to be done.
I think Smith machines are OK for beginners looking the make some initial gains so they have the strength to do a decent, proper squat, but beyond that they suck and I never use them.
I obviously posted in the wrong thread. A testament to the talents of my friends who really know how to brew great beer.
My bad. Sorry. I meant to post in the random thoughts thread. But yeah...more beer will really help the situation...right?
At least I'm still spelling correctly. That's my limit. When my spelling or grammar is shitty....I'm out.
makes more sense to me. i can never understand the logic of driving to a gym, when they could walk to the grocery store and carry their shopping home in a canvas bag. any kind of exercise for the sake of exercise is boring to me, and takes time away from more creative things i'd rather be doing. but if i happened to be doing something that i was getting exercise BY doing, like unloading 100 pound sacks of rice off a truck or something, at least i'd actually be DOING something.
