i said single people and sick people with no kids that dont qualify for welfare handouts i didnt say i would build some crazy hippie compound sheesh
I'm sure there are people out there who have won the lotto who are living very nice lives, but I've heard a lot of horror stories too. Seems like lotto winners meet a bad fate a lot of times. I never really play but might buy a ticket tomorrow for the hell of it. When I win I will buy a lot of land and build a little village for my friends. Wouldn't want to live in close proximity to family so I'll buy them houses elsewhere. I would invest in any creative or business pursuits my loved ones want to pursue, then I would take off and travel for a few years. I would eventually like to set up some kind of business so if the lotto karma hits and it all goes to shit I have a hope of remaining financially solvent.
it does seem like most lottery players get a certain amount of satisfaction out of holding up the line at the gas station for a ridiculously long time. i'm sure a lot of it comes down to who plays the lottery. if the right person wins, they can make a great life for themselves out of the winnings. but the nature of the lottery is that it attracts the idiots who don't know how to responsibly use their money. if they did, they wouldn't be buying lottery tickets in the first place.
Current estimated lump sum cash option: 496 million I know the odds of winning are greater than being hit by lightning on a clear day but it was worth laying down two bucks for... Hotwater
Thanks but I don’t expect to win, hopefully it’s some poor schlep about to be repossessed only to find himself in the rarefied air with the Donald Trumps of the world – Ok I take that back - I wouldn’t wish that on anyone Hotwater
It's the unclaimed that captures your attention 50 million and 77 Million respectfully - wow! And the ticket is only good for 1 year Hotwater
Wow. I did not know that......you get to keep it all if you win the lottery in Canada. Now, why can't that be the case here? I also wanted to say, I would make this house much bigger in my dreams....or if i write that book to sell....lol.....to accomodate my brother and hopefully , his family one day. he likes it here.....and I could always use a little more room around here, if I am being honest. I would not crowd any more spaces with much stuff, as houses are easier to clean with less stuff......a fireplace would be great....that way, if things go phooey....and no electricity.....there are plenty of trees....and dead wood to burn if it came to that here.....so that would be a smart decision.....and a beautiful one, too....My last house had a fireplace , and i miss it......
I actually read that your chances of getting eaten by a shark were better than winning the lotto. lol
people are impressed by numbers. and do really stupid things. well i would liberate a chunk of the earth somewhere, for all the creatures living on it to continue to enjoy. mountains and forests. maybe my own island of dr morose or something. no number is bigger then i can think of something more interesting to do then try to impress anyone with it. elon musk reminds me of a character out of hienline, probably based on howard hughes. what the fuck do i need with solid gold bede's? no amount might be enough to build the kind of u.f.o. i would like, but maybe it would be enough to build a small community somewhere, that people could see what i have in mind as a way of life, and people who wanted to could come and live there.
i'll build myself a socialist monestary for athiests and live in it. gold bidets for soothe. does anybody ever bother to analyze gratification? or are they too brainwashed by epicness and trying to impress each other?
That's weird to me canada doesn't tax lottery winnings. It took my state a long time to legalize the lottery and it was finally legalized only because the tax from it was supposed to go to education. Seems like it was mismanaged, I don't think it benefitted public school at all. The only noticeable benefit I can see is every college student below a certain income and who keeps a certain GPA automatically qualifies for a couple thousand in aid each year that comes from the lottery tax.
