Hamas has the opportunity to be part of the PLO. It will have the ability to negotiate for it's supporters within an accepted political body. Why do they deny their supporters a voice? Because of the infuence of Israel? I think it is a lot more about their personal power than being the voice of Palestinian citizens.

Fatah and Abbas are Israeli tools at the moment. I don't see any chance of unifying what you call the PLO currently.

Do you think it was doled out by Republican militias and withheld from Democrats?
You are just making up rationalisations on the spot. Aid agencies hand out aid themselves all over the world, including in the west bank and gaza. You are making up excuses for Hamas gunmen robbing aid convoys, which is really stooping pretty low.

I agree, it isn't right that Hamas should be taking aid from people who truly need it, but I think this problem arised from them being shunted to the sidelines ever since they took power. They have been labeled a terrorist organization, and have been effectively disregarded by much of the international community. The fact of the matter is, they were democratically elected, and they should be treated as such, not as an obstacle that we need to work around. Truth is, if the carry on this way, taking from the people, they will lose the support of said people, and won't have any power anymore. I know from experience, it isn't a good feeling to be disregarded, and it can make you act out in ways you itherwise wouldn't.

Hamas poliice took possession of the supplies, in order that the elected government agency in charge of such contingencies could distributed it to those most in need.

I am surprised the UN wasn't aware of proper procedure.

Oh so a Hamas spokeperson said it was OK, so you think its OK.

This is an elected government that is using the ceasefire to torture and murder its opponents while robbing aid convoys to ensure aid only goes to its supporters.

And you are still making excuses for them.

I don't. Maybe you need to turn off your "block any bad news about Hamas" filter.

Aid wasn't stolen it was confiscated by the government duly elected and responsible for it's dispursement. If the UN wants it dispursed then go through the elected government. Or would you rather they dispurse it though Fatah and Bush's flunky Abbas?

I don't have any filters on, but I do use a firewall, and my firewall alerted, I don't care who tries to impinge on my security, they are all held as suspect.

The UN was supplying Fatah with aid, to uindermine Hamas, don't have to be stupid to see someone is playing the world view. Bush/Cheney are gone...have to find new friends now.

Hamas was duly elected, Abbas and Fatah lost.
