I think i always knew better than to hurt an animal, i have always been an amimal lover. the only thing like that i ever did was burn ants
when I was little I cried cuz I accidently killed a sluge .... I would never harm anyone or anything.
I am definitly an animal lover, people lover, nature lover lol... I wouldnt want to harm anything cuz ... thats how i am
My journey through life is littered with the carcasses of countless entities... ranging from mosquitoes that got slapped, white flies and hornets that were poisoned, grasshoppers and flies that were captured and sadistically dismembered before being dispatched to their destiny, a small number of rodents and incidental wildlife that wandered into the path of my speeding vehicle... youthful indescretion and curiosity enabled acts that would undoubtedly shock those of you who dwell on little bully pulpits ready to cast judgement on abyone not measuring up to your lofty standards. To many I'm still quite barbaric- often going out of my way to commit wanton insecticidal acts. I cannot stand mosquitos and am quite happy to eliminate them- I take perverse pride in being a prolific and punitive perpetrator of pest punishment. Likewise, houseflies are on my hit list. Offing "critters" is not something I go out of my way to do. I have nearly caused traffic accidents braking to avoid running over squirrels. While I'm not against fishing for the purpose of feeding oneself the practice of sport hunting is not something I agree with. One can safely say that the fish does not deserve to die but neither does the wildebeest or water buffalo that is hunted and slaughtered by the lion or tiger.
We need another and wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature and living by complicated artifice. Man in civilization surveys the creatures through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err, for the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings, they are nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and times, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth. Henry Beston Hotwater
Do all sorts of nasty lawn n garden bugs/ flying stinging insects/ fire ants/ roaches/ fleas/ ticks/ rodents/ snakes count? If so I'm a cereal killer w/victims numbering in the millions I suppose. Yes, I'm still active... We won't even discuss game animals/ fish. ~~~~~ AM - I'd prolly cry too if I hit a skunk w/my own vehicle.
ya know one of the indicators that someone will be a serial killer later in life is killing and/or torturing them
I just want to say, I know I was wrong in what I did to that cat, but it makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one who has made this type of mistake. I have felt that I am demented, which I am, but I would hate to be so demented that I wouldn't feel remorse for killing that cat. Thise poll makes me feel better, and worse, at the same time, if that makes sense. It makes me feel better to know that I am not the only person that has done regretful things in my past, but it disgusts me to know that some of you still do such things, with no remorse. I only hope you see the error in you ways, the same way I have. We all do things that are wrong and immoral, but not all of us realize the error in our ways. I wish for forgiveness for us all and hope that we all realize that all life is precious and should be respected.
I've never known a kid that hasn't purposely killed or tortured animals, unless they altogether didn't notice animals at all. It's a way to discover life cycles, and power, so long as they don't continuously do it/get a lot of excitement over it, I don't think it indicates anything besides curiosity.
When I was a child...... slightly pre-teen....... my cousin and I used to put M-80's into ant holes. We used to capture bees between our hands and under glass cups for the sake of frying them under magnifying glasses. We would burn their wings off and then set them free. I used to find this amusing. I can no longer kill insects for pleasure, and even struggle killing them out of necessity. A life is a life whether it typically lasts 80 years or 24 hours, as some insects do. Life is meant to be respected, and I will respect the life of any living creature as far as I believe it will respect my life. This isn't to say I don't and/or wouldn't take another life. It simply means I would not do so without purpose. I would not do so unless I felt it woud save as many, or more, lives than would be lost if I didn't not take the single life in question.
Nah i know what you mean, i was having a smoke and decided to spit on an ant to drown it and after i felt really bad and apologised to the ants corpse... now that sounds silly!
To be conscious and analytical enough to label yourself demented negates the idea of dementia itself. What you did was immature and cruel. While you make it obvious in you that in a sense you realize this you seem to mislabel it for one reason or another. We all act immature at some point, and we all have been cruel at some point. It's a part of life. I do not mean to judge. I only mean to speak of my opinion.
Nope. I have not and I never will. Theres a german saying that has been told to me in my earliest youth: Quäle nie ein Tier zum Scherz, denn es fühlt wie du den Schmerz. (meaning roughly: Dont ever torture an animal just for the fun of it, because it feels the pain just like you would.)
The question in the poll regards animals and insects. The answers all refer specifically to animals. I differentiate between animals and insects, and therefore cannot honenstly vote in your poll.
The differance? If I stomp on one with my shoe it's dead. The other may just be in a lot of pain, suffering badly. I've swatted flys, misquitos, and spiders. I've never poked a cats eyes out or any shit like that.
