Yeah I read it. What I saw was people arguing about which celebrity is prettier. Made me think of the gossip magazines I see at the check out line. I understand they hold a higher importance to you, but to me they are just people who are famous for being born to famous parents. The only thing separating them from the likes of Paris Hilton is respectability. I mean no disrespect. It's just the way I see it.
They are not celebrities. What I'm saying is a brief glance at the thread would have indicated what the thread was about, and who the people are. To protest ignorance to what the thread was about seems faintly disingenuous. Adjective Not candid or sincere, typically by pretending that one knows less about something than one really does. I know who these people are but I have no interest in them so won't claim to know who they are! Seems a little laboured to me. They don't hold any great significance to me, to be honest.
ce·leb·ri·ty /səˈlebrətē/ Noun A famous person. The state of being well known: "his prestige and celebrity grew".
i never claimed that the views of myself and the people that i know on this particular issue are representative of anything apart from the views of myself and the people that i know on this particular issue. when i said "use approximate averages" i meant in order to answer the question "how many people is that?" you CAN extrapolate the popularity of the royals from it, if you want. the accuracy of doing is so is pretty debateable though
If they can displace the names Zimmerman and Martin in the news, I am for them. British tradition--let them have their fun.
you can say, "this small, vague sample of people who i assume to be (mostly) all roughly the same age, (mostly) all of roughly the same geographical location and therefore roughly similar (to a certain extent) backgrounds hold to one set of political views on one particular issue, therefore, clearly, so does everyone. in the world."
because individual personal experience, while not necessarily of verifiable statistical value, is occasionally of interest to others and also arguably holds some ethnographic value. forum discussion is, after all, mainly made up of it.
I'm sure I would be disgusted if I listened to any of it... I honestly don't even know if the kid was born yet, although I'm assuming yes. I've been keeping the news off n the few times, before the baby was born, that I heard about it I flipped the channel. aint got time for that shit.
