Never a mean boss, but my first boss was a straight pig. He was middle aged, with a big beer belly, and always sweating. I would often overhear him talking to the other guys--saying things about the female employees and customers that would make Donald Trumps comments look innocent. Bleh. Not to mention that most of his female employees were underage.
ever been a boss and tried not to 'be mean', when you had to get things done and didn't have the elbow room to show how its done? of course the logical thing to do in that situation was to quite and go sleep under a bridge, and listen to all the logic hating right wingers whine about how lazy everyone was. so i always tended to cut middle managers a certain amount of slack, but still no one place ever lasted for more then a few years. the patience with fellow humans, to do anything i had to think about, and do it for someone else at the same time, sorry to say, i never quite had enough of. i can figure out anything in my own time when its for myself and no one else is depending on my doing so, but all i can do when its for someone else and money is involved is panic. that's what's messed up with my head that what i call my pension is for and all about. and probably the only reason the chronic anxiety i grew up with hasn't already killed me. fortunately i'm also old enough everyone my age should be getting some kind of something anyway. (and the damd logic hating loonies want to take that away too. if it wasn't so people could help each other, we'd have never left the caves and the trees)
