I have killed mosquitos, roaches, ants, some road kills, a baby(from an abortion when I was 18). I am vegetarian. Have been since March. I have no problem with people who eat meat, hell everyone in my household does except for me. I have no problem with people killing for survival. I do have a problem with the food industry...with the way that animals are fed their own brains and the way that chickens are just tossed down conveyer belts. I do believe everything has a soul and consciousness and have made the choice for myself in regards to this. I eat mostly locally grown food from farms in the area and try to be conscious about my decisions of food. I am not a snob about it but someone who is making choices for myself that doesn't mean I judge another's choices and do not like people wanting to categorize me for decisions I make for myself.
now THAT'S what i like. i've been a vegan, too. it didn't work for me. not only did i feel farther from my core, my soul, but i got sick, too. i felt less connected to the entirety of myself and my heritage. i don't like rampant cattle production and massive pollution, waste and garbage style agribusiness. buti dislike hypocrisy even more.
Oh lord, I could never be a vegan...I like my dairy too much and have a hell of a time with wanting to do all kinds of substitutions of dairy products in my food....plus something really weird about buying vegan stuff that is just man made stuff to make you feel like you are eating the real thing but its some factory made stuff. I did do alot of veggie burgers and stuff but have fallen from that too since I know the soy isn't really that good for me either. Being vegetarian hasn't affected me in a negative manner. I decided to do it when I went to a meditation retreat and all the food was vegan. Bleck some of that shit was nasty too but I knew if I did it a couple days I could keep on going. Andy did it with me until a few weeks ago. Its ok...his choices are his. I cannot be a liar I freaking love the taste of meat and miss having a burger so badly sometimes that I can freaking taste it. Its just really about not supporting what is going on with these animals and the industry. If we had a world of co-existence instead of making it how we freaking want it, then heck yeah I would eat the meat. I would probably need too. If I could afford the organic meats I would probably do a bit of that but I cannot afford them. Good for you for doing what you felt you needed to do for yourself. Everyone should. I think they should try other ways first though to see what is their own voice and what is that given to them from growing up.
i don't like most of those substitution foods. i've tried a lot of them. btw, soy made my hair fall out, i NEEDED more protein. i developed an intolerance for nuts, too. so basically most of what i eat are whole, raw foods. it goes a long way, and you don't have to deal with the bs. i eat LOADS of beans, lentils, rice, vegetables, not so much fruit (it makes me ill), except avocados and tomatoes. i've gotten to where i can't tolerate a lot of processed foods and grains.
however, you can make a DELICIOUS chili from those spicy black bean patties in place of meat. it's amazing. we cooked for a lot of vegans when we were attending the SDA church. i still like their stance on christianity, for the most part. it's very pragmatic and logical, all things considered. if you want, i can give you the recipe. you can include cheese or not, but you both can eat it.
I ran over a snake once, felt bad and went home a wrote a song about it I think ground meat, sausage, and pate are the grossest foods on earth
skunks are cute. my friend hit a rabbit that dove under her tire as we were driving the highway. we laughed so hard. NOT because we're heartless assholes, it was just such a sudden shock.
Skunks would look pretty cute if it weren't for rabies and smell. That's good revenge. Even heartless bastards are upset when they hit a skunk.
i eat - i eat a lot. i eat lots of meat. i also eat lots of veggies, nuts, beans, rice, etc...most meat i eat is lean, but i do enjoy some fatty meats. fish is delicious, i love living in a coastal area, fresh seafood plus lots of veggies and fruits that change throughout the seasons. mmmmm mmmmmmmmm
I would love the recipe. Oh, and skunks smell so good. But then again I think most stoners think that
seventh day adventist. christian vegans since the 1800's. lol. some are whack jobs, most are just awesome, doctors and dentists. it's part of their faith to learn medicine and care for the human body, loma linda hospital and may vegan products are theirs. ANYWAY, it was pretty interesting. i still fit in, since i was eating wild meat. it's the profoundly horrific cattle production methods (which i did a thesis on in college) that they object to.
lol, I googled it afterwards. Andrew works with one...he is a really laid back down to earth guy. very friendly. some of every faith are whack jobs that is for sure. I grew up Mormon so I should know. Though I believe in alot of the principles of doing good and being righteous...I just don't like someone/some faith telling me what is good or righteous...and I certainly cannot stand the judgemental stances.
