I'm not sure alien emails obey special relativity. Well that does present a problem. But, think of like an ant like group of people, where they have one group of scientists, on group of workers, and one group of the queens which they worship as gods. The scientists would realise that they weren't but not say anything to keep the hierarchy and the workers would be to satisfied with their intergalactic conquests and keep celebrating the queen.
It would be pretty weird if, out of billions of stars, our solar system was the only one with life. We can't be the only ones. Unless you listen to the bible thumpers.
Uhm, yes there is still a big if. Just because the universe is really big and it is unlikely our planet is the only one with intelligent life it is still possible to be the case. I suppose I look like a bible thumper now The universe is really big so there has to be other intelligent life somewhere else almost sounds like a weird dogma. I like to think about this every once in awhile but I don't draw conclusions based on pretty much nothing.
It makes sense to keep an open mind in this matter. To say certain aliens have visited us to secretly anal probe some humans sounds at least as ridicilous as the claim we must be alone in this universe because of some religious conviction.
