but I was just simply fancinated by the debating that went on last night. Those 2 bringing out logic and points like crazy. Im not a fan of his but I do like his debates and opinions about some things

 

A lot of time the reason you don't understand something Stacy, it isn't because it's beyond you. It's because it doesn't make sense. That thread was not informative. It was a pissing match.

Being intelligent is something to strive for. But looking down on people for being dumber than you is about as shallow as looking down on people for being uglier than you.

 

Some of it was actually informative. You could actually see Dave and Cherea gradually revising their arguments (and perhaps beliefs) throughout the course of the thread. Sometimes you make sweeping statements about the arguments of other posters as if you're "divine judge of what is and isn't to be discussed". I'm just pointing something out and not making a personal attack. I like you and I implore you not to embark on an epic rant in which you defend the logic of your accusations, but I can't stop you.

 

I was actually putting real information out there.

I actually gave up on the thread before you two really got into it.

I guess I'll go read it before I talk about the whole thread... when I left it was cherea calling you a virgin and blah blah blah.

I didn't assume it improved.

No one really cares about stuff that there is no earthly use for in their day-to-day lives, as MJB already said.

There ARE different types of genius ~ common sense, mathematical, language, abstract, on and on.

For you to say that anyone with a low IQ has no spark of genius is absurd.

What I was getting at is that intelligence is mostly an inherited gift. It may sound obvious to you, but to me, when I was younger, I really looked down on people less gifted than I. I still probably do it abit, and it's really shallow.

I think the problem some people; that discussion aside have, is that they try to demean people who they presume aren't as smart as them. Instead they should refinine their own statements and trying to explain it in a more easily understandable way.

I'm comfortable with my intellect, it is an asset, just as ones ability to run fast, or jump high are assets.

just as a woman might use her breasts as assets and be lauded for sex positive feminism.



I think differently than most people you've met, and though it's REALLY easy to slap stereotypes on me, just like it's easy to slap stereotypes on ANYONE else.

but slapping stereotypes on people is god damn lazy thinking.

IMO you went on your high horse about disabled people. I dont care how you think but anyone can have the learning skills

Obviously I am not you, I don't know what your intentions are or the true extent to which you do peruse the posts of others before you give your verdict so I cannot call it a solid "truth".

You passed judgment on one thing that you read and based your entire opinion of the discussion between the two posters on that. That sort of thing irks me. I often find you completely unreachable because you have already made up your mind on a particular matter and no solid factual evidence can sway you from your set ideas about what myself, or another poster is attempting to get across in reality. Sweeping statements such as "The whole thread was a pissing contest" (and so many more examples) just reinforce my opinion that you're excessively sure of your own intelligence and moral superiority over others.

Its something that I have been wanting to say for a long time but have been reluctant to because you're not a douchebag and I don't like picking fights with good people. Take from that what you will.

The thing is, arguing that all people are intellectually equal when they clearly aren't, is living in a world of the non-quantifiable.

it's not shallow, it's fact.

I didn't get to play sports with my dad because he's in a wheelchair, and mildly retarded.

I've spent a lot of time working with retarded people, SOME of them may be better people than is mainstream, but some are EVIL manipulative little fucks.

and some are not capable to learn, so, whether we play with quantifiables, or non-quantifiables.
