i'm not sure how all of this developed ~

whether it was a test/entrapment thing

    at the start,

which, btw, i am TOTALLY N O T down with,

or whether it just sort of devolved into enflaming the odd-man-out,

but if anyone even BEGINS to suspect that this thread is overstepping the forum guidelines,

it's time to just drop it.

Losing friends, and the folks you get used to around here,

    absolutely SUX!

Like it or not, it's the variety that keeps it fresh,

    and y'all've GOT to admit

IT HASN'T BEEN BORING, eh?

Woah this thread is long. Is there some drama somewhere? :p I got to page 5... :leaving:

If we are still talking about intelligence:
I can appreciate that people are smart through things they have read or heard about. Someone who knows the ins and outs of physics is obviously smart. If you know things, I call you smart.

But I think truly being intelligent is more than that. You have to live things, and see them for your own eyes. Make your own opinions and judgements from things you have witnessed, and not just text you've read in a book.

Y'all probably will disagree, but to me, experience is knowledge.

Edit: Woah I just read about 14 pages... This thread went to shit pretty fast. :p Arguing about intelligence? :D

    Second edit:

    That was my point.

Just a note on that entrapment comment. This thread was as much of a 'trap' as every other one in exisitence. Unless of course stacy pm'd dave and said, hey come post in my thread, but even if she had...

Dave chose to post here, as the rest of us did as well.
Dave chose to say the things that he did.

The only way anyone can make a claim of entrapment on this is if Dave feels he isn't mentally competent and responsible for the words he chose to use.

    As for the rest...

    lol

Oh yes, and as for Dave rantings against Skip and the site that he decided he wanted to delete afterwards....

    http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=370344&f=51

In case anyone can't click on that (or is just too lazy to do so)...

    Seems pretty clear to me....

So simple, some with a mental disabilities could grasp it....

THAT, folks, is how you deal with a site full of members who signed up for Free Speech forums.

Well, thanks for the vote of confidence, Stacy.

I did not post anything in that thread to be smart. In fact, everything that I posted there has to do with my direct experience and intuition. My academic knowledge is scant and I'm admittedly a dilettante.

I don't value cerebralness (lol) as much as Dave. And I do not put the mind above our bodies in importance. I also don't think information-processing and knowledge are the same thing. Finally, I do not value utility as much as Dave since we're all going die anyway (including as a species).

The smartest man is the happiest.

On another note, I am pretty awesome aren't I. Right now some execs. are interested in writing a movie about me. It's going to be called 'Good Lunar Hunting' lmao

"we are the world...we are the children. We are the ones who make a brighter day, so lets start living." :grouphug:

Yea I agree. That "we're all the same and have equal opportunity" is total bullshit. I suggest anyone who disagrees look up Malcom Gladwell. He wrote a great book (wikipedia can tell you the name) on opportunity and how there's no such thing as equal opportunity. For example (his example):
Juniour hockey league. Kids that are born early in the year usually get picked over the kids that are born in the fall (which is when hockey starts). By the fall kids who were born early in the year are bigger, usually faster, better, considering they've potentially had months more to practice over kids who were born in the fall. So say a kid is 9 and he tries out. He's going to have one years worth more, of practice and growth over a kid who is stil 8 but will be turning 9 in 2 months. Nothing the 8 year old kid can do about, he just happens to have been born 'later'
