Golly gee Mr. Wizard I sure would love to know where Leopold Plumtree can get gas for about $2.60 a gallon...Nov. 1,2005 I got 8.9gal. for $2.58 a gallon...oh and that old fart in Vegas that prays every night that oil prices go up and up and up-get a clue bubba.....farmers use tractors-tractors and harvesters and most farm equipment run on diesel fuel-farm trucks running from the fields to the first processing plant to the 18 wheelers running the highways to the final processing plants to terminals and distributors and all the stores in this country.....they all run on diesel fuel....everything you buy in any store anywhere in this country arrives by truck....higher fuel prices mean the food you buy, that new shirt or blouse you want, your new Ipod, that laptop you have your eye on....it all takes diesel fuel to get to it's destination. Oh and by the way where do you think plastic comes from??? Petro chemicals kiddo that's where. That old dude in Vegas better start a garden and learn to grow his own grub-make his own clothes-and learn how to make do or do without...you wish for bad luck long enough and bad luck is what you'll get. :( 7.65

Well now if the EPA won't allow more oil refineries to be built thus increasing the supply and possibly lowering the price at the pump...and the EPA is part of the goverment that rules this country then perhaps the real answer to the problem is to shut down the EPA. Once the EPA is just a bad memory "we the people" can go after some of the more nefarious agencies of the gov't. Once all those ex employees get a taste of real life (what do you want to bet they won't like it one little bit?) they will probably join in the revolution....and with hundreds perhaps thousands of pissed off Americans joining the fight the revolution might actually succeed. And you know these people would be accomplishing more good for the country than those few flakes in the ELF or ALF burning down fancy high priced housing developments or university labs here and there. If the ELF or ALF really want to hurt rich fat cats...you wanna hurt em??? Turn 'em into poor people...don't believe me? Try it-you won't like it.

I am. I no longer own a motor vehicle, nor do I drive.
I use Taxi's because I can't walk real far to the bus.

Sorry for not being clear on this. What I meant was that we should no put all our eggs in one basket. I was not saying that we should use just sugar. Ethanol can be produced from a number of sources not just sugar or corn. I don’t know this for a fact, but I would imagine the same is true for butanol as well. My concern is that the only production in alternative fuel has been corn! While sugar may take more space, corn severely depletes the top soil of nutrients. That is why if you look at any corn field you will see that ½ has corn the other does not. Anyway, I hope our government will get it’s act together an look at all sources of alternative fuel.

I do not know if my car can run on butanol or not. I’ll have to ask my mechanic about that one. I do know that my car can be modified to run on ethanol.

Admittedly, I have not done any independent research on that. My only source of information on this is just what I see on TV.

It is my understanding that Brazil is now 100% free of imported oil. Am I wrong on that?

I only take public transportation now. It's what I can do to help.
