Well I thought they where just quoting off erowid.... I'm not sure if having erowid mentioned and linked is good or bad.... I mean, I tell random strangers about erowid, but context is everything....
"This afternoon, police announced they've arrested a 21-year-old man they believe is responsible for buying and distributing the 2C-E. He's being held for third degree murder and formally charged on Monday. Rumors are swirling within the group of friends that the drug was mixed with some other chemical or cleaner. But Fenner says the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which analyzed the substance, confirmed that it is 2C-E and to his knowledge did not discover any other harmful substances in it." "“Apparently, they knocked him out or something and then they waited a long time. He wasn’t breathing, and then they dropped him off in the front of the hospital. Just dropped him off in the parking lot and drove off,” John [his brother] said." someone posted this comment under one of the articles "As it were, an anonymous source has now stated that the drug sold as 2C-E was in fact a massive overdose of the drug MDPV, a component of "bath salts" whose ban was recently proposed by the DEA/congress. "I'd like to shed some light on this, because I actually know what happened – I know these kids either directly or through some friends. I've heard what actually happened from several different people. As some of you have guessed, this was NOT 2c-e, it was actually MDPV. The kid knew what he was selling, yet he still sold it like it was molly/2c-e, in 100mg capsules. Really ****ing dangerous shit. The guy who sold these kids MDPV as 2c-e is actually friends with the guy who sold me and my friend MDPV as MDMA. Even more baffling, he had taken enough MDPV the night I was duped to put himself in the hospital. He was fully aware of the effects. I've met gang-banging heroin dealers more honest/ethical than these guys. These kids run in the same scene as me, as well as the dealers obviously, and this has shaken the scene to the core. Very sad stuff.""
Good stuff. Well, in light of the chemical possibly NOT being 2c-e, murder is considerably more of a possibility, but it's dangerous that they arrested him for murder when they thought he was selling 2c-e as 2c-e. About erowid, I didn't mean it will be shut down, I meant in regards to public perception of drugs. Right now we're winning the perception war faster than ever before, nearly half the public thinks that marijuana should be LEGAL. We WILL win, and information is key. Erowid is information. Hopefully it's a positive thing when people find it, I can just also see it being used as a tool against drugs.
but erowid is about much more than marijuana.. and i think the substance still may have been 2ce. apparently they tested it and that's what it came back as. so the buy saying MDPV could be full of shit. i also read at BL that they have already introduced a bill in washington to make 2ce illegal
Could very well have been mixed though. I believe it.... I'm sure it won't last long. About erowid, I mean that if people are open to legalizing a drug that their government calls dangerous and addictive, they're also more likely to think more freely than they would have a few years ago. The internet forces information on you. If people want to read about 2c-e, wouldn't you prefer they read it from erowid, rather than the DEA's "chemicals of concern" page? Are there suppliers for 2c-b and 2c-t7 or other compromised things from countries who don't care? Or are they all domestic/word of mouth? I'm just wondering about the future of psychedelics here. I mean, I would expect LSD suppliers and such to operate offshore as well if it was that possible. I've seen 2c-b around, but don't know where it came from. I've seen LSD for sale online from what LOOKED like full blown companies, but I'm 99.99% sure it was a complete and utter scam.
IMO the more people who know about Erowid the better. Isn't that really what Erowid is all about? Bringing accurate information to the public.
"U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar is proposing legislation that would ban a synthetic drug that killed one Minnesotan last week and sent 10 others to the hospital. Klobuchar says Monday that the drug called 2C-E should be illegal. Klobuchar already co-sponsored legislation that would permanently ban chemicals found in synthetic marijuana and other drugs. She says she'll work to include a ban on 2C-E in the existing bill. Klobuchar says it's time to take action before these substances endanger more lives. Last Thursday, 19-year-old Trevor Vance Robinson of Coon Rapids died, just one day after taking 2C-E at a party in Blaine. Others were having trouble breathing and appeared to be hallucinating. Well I honestly don't know if this makes me feel better or worse. Either way, it sucks that some dude died and it sucks that 2ce is getting unwarranted exposure. Eye <3 2ce and it's terrible that ignorance and, possibly, misuse(if it was, in fact, 2ce) will criminalize the acquisition of such a beautiful substance Fuck MDPV though. It's just bringing more attention to the whole scene
I dunno, as far as exposure, FUCK synthetic cannabinoids. MDPV is kinda nice, everyone's all riled up about it being in bath salts (because its nasty shit, of course its an easier target) and they don't even mention mephedrone/methylone... hell, do they still sell bath salts with those?
I don't know if they still sell meph bath salts or what. Regardless, I guess I should rephrase my previous statement....."Fuck the widespread availability of MDPV and meph". That widespread availability is, afterall, the reason so much bad shit has happened to people, along with the fact that people just don't do their fuckin research. The fact that it's so available makes people think it's harmless, and that's far from true. Synthetic cannabinoids are the shizz though:sifone: I still don't think they should be so widely available either, aside from in the incense blends, since the incense blends are more dose-manageable. Shitty. I don't like the exposure it's getting, but the bitch is right, in a sense.....people need to respect 2ce as a powerful drug, as opposed to thinking it's safe just because it's "legal". It's still unfair though. People die everyday from alcohol and other legal substances, including water. It would be smarter to educate people, instead of letting them learn from the mistakes of others. Some stupid motherfucker misuses a drug and everyone proceeds to demonize it and see nothing but the possible negative effects, instead of the benefits. It's hard to blame people for not seeing how wonderful psychedelics can be though, when they've never experienced it themselves.
Well I meant with regards to awareness/legal threat. The synthetic cannabinoids are not the safest, even in "spice"they're quite easy to OD on and end up in the ER. They call massive attention to the fact that there's thousands of unreglulated psychoactive chemicals, something that the US had traditionally been pretty unaware of. They call attention to the better, safer, more fun, more teaching psychedelics. Of course having ANY drugs illegal is the reason that SOME drugs being legal is often taken to mean they're safe... that's ONE of the failings of prohibition...
...and in other news, in just this past week, three high school football players died on their high school football fields. Fucking "Europa" (as it's more 'commonly' called say the 'experts'). Let's take a tally here: Who refers to 2C-E as "Europa"??? It's like "Nexus" or "Blue Mystic", an antiquated marketing name for the drug from its days sold in Dutch coffee shops. The media is utilizing this catchy nickname to both make certain that the public has a face to demonize this drug while also giving it a name to fuel the public's fear of it. I sincerely fear that this incident is going to be the death of the whole RC scene. All one needs to do is put that 21 year old kid on the stand, have him state where it came from, and BOOM! There goes the neighborhood. Just this year alone, 5-MeO-DMT, five synthetic cannabinoids, and in some states, mephedrone, methylone, MDPV, and even some base herbs for the synthetic cannabinoid mixes have already been banned. With the DEA's emergency scheduling procedure, 2C-E could easily be put under the emergency scheduling statute of like what is it, two years? Well, that's long enough for the cumbersome process of making it a schedule one drug to take effect. What's worse is that with so many research chemicals now under scrutiny, all that needs to be done is for the dots to be connected to the source, that source I fear is a place we all know about, and if I'm even close to being right, there will be a crusade against any and all research chemicals. That won't eliminate them from the market, but what it will do is make customs beef up its procedures of checking the contents of incoming parcels from the likes of places we don't even allow immigrants to waltz into the US from (like China). This in turn will take the chemistry out of the safe environs of the Chinese factories that have measures of quality control to ensure at the very least 90-98% of these substances and in their place, less educated chemists, or just people getting recipes off of the Internet will avert the production to basement laboratories, and much like meth labs, there won't be any guarantee of quality control. With CBS all over this now and legislation already on the table being discussed by these 'experts', this is thee worst nightmare to a scene that's been safe, sane, and responsible until some vendor made the big mistake of taking the money and putting 2C-E into the hands of a child. I'm fairly well certain that if enough 2C-E was going around to have killed even one human being, that these kids must have been rich kids, and that there must've been a shovel-load of the shit dumped on the table. I mean 2C-E is not exactly inexpensive, and if these kids were railing it like cocaine, they easily could've snorted hundreds of milligrams; the one kid in particular obviously found out what the LD50 of 2C-E is. And it shouldn't go without mention that bypassing first pass metabolism of PEA's essentially doubles the dose upon intake. So if this kid did a 200mg rail, he in effect snorted what would approximate to being 400mg of 2C-E. I did stupid things as a teenager just like those kids, but good word, even then I had the scruples to not ingest large quantities of unknown substances without compunction or rationale. I hope to hell that the RC scene doesn't explode as I fear it will because of these reckless, careless kids' unscrupulous activities. This has me both pissed off and terribly saddened, even a little confused. What a fucking nightmare. ...and in other news, just this week alone, three high school football players died on their high school football fields. Where is THAT in any national news? You'd be hard-pressed to find it, it was barely mentioned as a footnote on the fucking radio.
You're much more eloquent than I. This is what I was trying to say, while I was sputtering at my screen and typing that the kid deserved it. Spot on, about the names. Just like they made up "synthetic marijuana", and latched onto "k2". You need a name that's easy for ignorant people to associate with drugs, and by drugs, they also think junkies/hard physical addiction, meth mouth, child abuse, violence, crime, etc. As soon as they ban things, then the illicit manufacture begins, and then people get hurt, and then they blame the drug itself, just like what's happened to ecstasy. And then the fact that there's dangerous cuts ALSO works in alongside blaming the drug, as a reason NOT to legalize, no less.
