Yeah, I feel like he should have given me crutches too. Putting any weight on it at all is so excruciating right now.

Thanks friend. I hope so too.

It hurts really really bad. Every time I step with that leg, it feels like there's knives in my knee.

I wish I could! As a mom and a small business owner...the show must go on!

I really should be more concerned about the future...

One decision I made long ago was to not get into skiing in order to preserve my knees. (It also had to do with being poor.) But anyway, I am now almost 62 and very appreciative of my good knees.

I had surgeries on my hips when I was a kid, which as an adult has caused me to have progressive arthritis in both hips and both knees. It'll also eventually migrate to my ankles. They don't even do that surgery anymore, because of this side effect.

I figure my joints are going to be fucked regardless. Might as well get some fun out of them while I still can. ;)

All the big medical supply places will sell those to anybody, and that's the cheapest way to buy them. You never want to pay ER prices for anything that can come from somewhere else.

Yeah, you don't even have to fall down to damage them. They take a pounding just from going down the hill. I have spent some time on the slopes, but not excessively, and not in recent years.

There's so much more information available now on health preservation issues. Earlier generations were at a huge disadvantage. They used to think that smoking cigarettes was good for you! :willy_nilly:

you should probably wear sports braces on your knees. the have soft plastic on each side.. while it still gives you mobility, its wont allow twisting..

That's actually not a bad idea. I already wear gaskets under my knee pads, but clearly that not enough for a hard fall.

Karen, that's a good point about the supply stores.

don't take it personally Mama, he's just upset because you have a vagina and he will never, ever see one in real life.
I think it makes him a little cranky.

and best wishes for a speedy recovery:love:

If he walks behind you with his strong aura you might walk it off faster, Mama!

Maybe kok and I could work out a deal. He can be my assistant until I can function again, and I teach him how to not be repulsive. :)

Ramona, I'm not sure if you were referring to my comment or not. Either way, I wasn't being mean at all. I worry about this sort of thing. A family member of mine hurt his knee when he was in his 20's and even though it appeared to have healed, it ended up being a major burden on his life and he needed a total knee replacement before he was old enough to retire.

That's a totally valid way to look at it.

There is some wisdom in this that we could follow up.
