I do. It just sounds as if you guys think like you are heading the way of that video. I don't think so.
oh i know we are. google tent cities in america.. and we havent even got started with this yet. its coming. no matter what you think. the eternal optimist i see...
the fact is even in the great depression the unemployment rate only peaked at 25%.those pictures only show those worst affected. that in and of itself is reason enough for me to believe we will at the very least see times equal to the hardships faced during the great depression.. sadly 9 out of 10 economists in america seem to agree...
I think you might be thinking of external optimist not eternal optimist, perhaps...as I don't live in the US. I do think you guys and to a lesser extent the rest of the world is going to suffer in some way. I'm not blind to that. Storing food, buying guns and waiting for some day zero when you guys reach the state your country was in all those years ago...is too pesimistic. Belts need tightening. Money needs to be watched, yes. But, it will be a bumpy ride not a road to hell.
im a prepper. all one needs to do is look at the response by the government during ike and katrina to see they can not be depended on in the event of a disaster. i would advise anyone in america to have a minimum of a months supply of dry goods and drinking water on hand. i think thats just common sense. ive never advocated guns and ammunition although i do have what i feel is adequate for my own lifestyle long term. the fact is the government is preparing us for another "terrorist attack" on a MASSIVE level. this most likely will come at the height of the economic crisis. folks SHOULD be prepared to fend for themselves and there loved ones for a extended period of time because they very well may be among the worst effected. what harm does preparedness do? if you make all preparations for your long term survival in the event of catastrophe and nothing happens, youve lost nothing and gained peace of mind. if you make no preparations and catastrophe strikes and your on your own for a extended period then what? your fucked! its just common sense. regardless of what anyone says very few of our jobs are going to be guaranteed secure in the coming times.i know it brought me peace of mind and has helped me to not worry since ive lost my job knowing i was and am prepared to sustain myself. but thats just my 2 ameros worth.
I was discussing gun possession with my ex father in law just a couple days ago. I have never been a fan either but it makes sense to me now. Just a matter of convincing the mate.....who I haven't been able to so far.
if your not prepared to use it there is no sense in having one. fact is self defense is way down on my list as to why i own firearms. the way i see it is in some kind of doomsday mad max scenario,if the roving bands of zombie hoards or the rouge military squad came a calling our best option for survival would be to get the hell out of here before they got here or offer them dinner. i dont think one would live very long trying to defend themselves in that case. any other likely scenario,im pretty sure between the dogs, dilli and I we can handle it without a firearm..
not self defense.....Andy wants to get a fishing line and start making bows and arrows instead lol I don't want a hand gun. I don't believe in self defense like that. My biggest idea of self defense is in line with the principals of the law of attraction. I don't want to attract a situation of self-defense actually. But that is my thinking....may be too ethereal for some....but it works for me
what the hell are you talking about? i doubt more than 10% of america has 50 K in a bank..everyone elses money is disappearing in the market. lol i heard a economist on the radio say "hopefully the market will be back to where it was in 20 or 25 years after this is over with"..
If the economy is in meltdown and the US has 200-300% interest rates, plus having to completely redifine and alter it's monetery system. The runs on banks will be widespread and complete. Everybody regardless of how much money they have in their accounts will lose their money. You have envoked the great depression and the argentine crisis... Both an absolute financial disaster. You can't have it everyway as long as it is negative and requires the measures you envisage.
...except in the developed world, bank runs don't happen. The example would be Canada, where people are insured automatically for amounts up to 100,000. Secondly, "not being able to take money out of the country" is a form of capital control... Which certainly isn't a necessary indicator of impending economic collapse. Case in point: Asian crisis of the 1970s, Malaysia used capital controls rather than borrowing from the IMF like the rest of Asia, and was in turn insulated from the collapse. The point is, markets crash. It won't be another depression.
all i know is what the vast majority of economists are predicting, and it aint pretty.. like i said,im no expert, just a prepper,im ready for whatever. if things dont get bad well i am relieved but glad i was prepared..
While I agree things are in a state of flux right now, I do not think this is the complete end of things as we know it. I still maintain that is about 3 years away. Regardless, I am prepared now. Let me also point out that fortunes were made during the great depression. Opportunity is opening up. If you can see it you will make a fortune.
we hope things become more regional, and community centered. we plan on doubling the size of our gardens this winter and next spring begin to sell produce semi locally(yuppie town 25 miles from here) and perhaps locally. hopefully we can expand on that and wind up making a respectable living.. time will tell..
I'ts nice that you have the opportunity to double the size of your gardens and hopefuly expand making a respectable living.
if i didnt have that i would go to driving a truck,or go out of state and work..i hear they got plenty of construction work comin up on the coast of texas.. but i am trying to stay local if possible. like i said,im set up fine for a couple years easy so theres no hurry.i was prepared.. always lookin ahead at worse case scenarios and preparing for them has had its advantages for me. tis why i encourage others..
