I don't think I'm high maintenance...but I do shower at least every other day & wash my hair 2 days a week (African American hair doesn't get greasy fast). I shave and wear concealar, eyeliner & a touch of mascara. My clothes generally match, but i generally think it doesn't take that long to find a top and some pants that match! I don't do the whole nail thing (maybe for senior prom) or get peticures....

I don't think I'm high maintenance in comparison to what I've seen from my friends, but maybe compared to u guys. I dunno...I like what I do & it makes me feel good...and thats all that counts really.

I just want to make a reply first to the people saying how can you call yourself a naturegoddess... first off, this being my best friend I know her personally and I don't think she is high maintence... There is no need for you guys to jump on her for saying she likes to get a tan or have her nails done every once in awhile. She likes to feel good about herself...nothing to it. Is there something wrong with that? Shes a nature goddess...shes a nature lover, shes got a beautiful soul, a wonderful outlook on life, and a genuinely happy REAL woman. What she chooses to do to herself doesn't mean she isn't in tune to the earth...

Now, back to the orginal question...

I've gone to both ends of the spectrum in my life, dying hair, wearing makeup, all that... I've also lived in the woods for months on end, traveled, not shaved, showered only once a month, wore the same dirty tattered clothings and had dreadlocks. But guess what? Even when I was that way I plucked my eyebrows. I don't care...I loved them that way and where I was wasn't going to change me from doing what makes me feel good. Now all I do is pluck my eyebrows, wear makeup if I feel like playing dress-up(lol), and uhhh I shower more than once a month, lol. I shaved my legs when I got bored a couple of weeks ago but I haven't done it again. Oh and I do wear deorderant. *scratches head* I can't think of anything else. I like being simple. I do what I like to do. Nothing I ever do that is considered "high maintenance" is done for anyone but ME.

i dont think im that high maintenace
but i do like taking care of myself.

i hate hair on the legs, so ill go for a wax every now and then. when i dont feel like spending the money on waxing, i'll just shave.
and i admitt ill go for a facial sometimes....but my skin is crap, facials really do help.

makeup....eh, sometimes...just some blackeyeliner and mascara.
and i love plucking the brows, having them shaped is just more flattering in my case.

hair colouring....ya, guilty of that. havent in a while now.....i go every few months and get black done.

mani and pedis?? nah.....dont care for them. ill do my own nails, but sometimes, right before summer starts, i admitt ill treat myself to a pedicure. get ready to show them off in the flip flops!

used to do tanning beds....i hate them now. really unhealthy.

I wouldn't call myself high-maintenance at all really. I don't pluck my eyebrows , I don't get pedi's or anything. No facials.....I don't shave right now because it's too much of a hassle in my tiny bathroom...I bought Nair but I don't really bother with it. I probably will in the summer though. No makeup really....some tinted moisturizer sometimes &chapstick only. I used to color my hair a different color almost every year just for the fun of it but recently dyed it back to my natural light brown so that my roots can grow in and I won't have to do anything else to it ...I really want my natural hair color back and I've never used any hair products. And I used to tan all the time because I worked at a tanning salon and got to tan for free....it was relaxing! I did love being tan....but since I left there I haven't seen the beach or a tanning bed and being pale is fine too (although it would be nice to be naturally tan but since it's unhealthy for me I won't do it and I would never touch fake tanning lotion).

I used to wear makeup, shave and all that stuff.

I don't think I'm very high maintenace at'all anymore. I don't shave, I pluck my eyebrows every once in a while but no matter what I do to them they look funny anyways. I wear deodorant often and wash my hair once a week, sometimes once every two weeks.

Oh and I never wear make-up.

yeah... lets see what you guys say about me...

*im guilty of dying my hair.. but not normal colors... for christmas i dyed my hair firebox red and GREEEEN.. and another time brite pink streaks.. but when they faded out... they did. i didnt get them redone or anything... it was the semi permanent shit Manic Panic...

*i wear some makeup.. some tinted mousturizer (yeah i cant spell) cause i have baad acne scars.. and thats it.. i like clear lipgloss though!

*I shave, but not very often.. every 2 weeks maybe??

    *i do wear deorderant

*i wear most of my clothes more than twice before i throw them in the wash.. hell a quick smell check never hurt anyone! :D

*i got a pedicure once in florida (for free) as a treat.. it was neat i guess but it came off quick so it was sorta pointless.. i got some acrylics for homecoming last year.. that was a disater... i bite my nails so i ripped them off QUICK... damaged my teeth too, lol.

so.. yep.. thats me! take it or leave it!

I think this is the first thread I wrote that got so many responses. I think you do whatever you want to make your self feel good & I find it ridiculous to pride myself in being as much of a slob as physically possible & act like I'm the hottest shit while doing it, so excuse me. I like to get dirty, I'm a very outdoorsy person. I just like to pride myself in looking my best. Plus, I hate body hair. I think it is disgusting. I've always been somewhat low maintenance & decided if I like it better this way & it works for me, I'm going for it. So please judge me all you like you "open-minded" hippies. Sorry if I do what I like rather than to fit a stereotype.

Well said hon! You should do what you want to make yourself feel good.

Anyway, I don't do a lot of things, but there are some things I must do!
First, I have to smell good. I don't know what my deal is, but I love lotions and perfumes. And, I'm guilty of the hair dye, because I can't seem to find my natural color so I just keep dying it. :) I don't wear a whole lot of makeup, only sometimes when I dress up and I shave every once and a while. And I shower everyday, again because of the smell good issue. That's about it!

well, I don't consider myself to be high maintenance

I dye my hair every month or two. I always wear eye makeup when I'm leaving the house (minimum mascara, usually eyeliner and shadow as well), I like lipglosses, I like to keep my toenails very short (but I've never gotten a pedicure). I have some tanning time at a spa that I haven't used yet, but will once finals are done. I like trying new things with my hair. I like feeling girly and pretty sometimes. I always blowdry my hair after a shower, I own two curlers (two different sizes) and a flat iron, and a fair number of hair products as well. So I probably sound like I'm high maintenance, but I don't feel like I am... I could do without pretty much all of it, I just choose to indulge in all that fun stuff.

Yeah, I'm high maitinence... but I have become less so in the past year and a half. When I go out, like out on the town it takes about an hour and a half to get ready, but I actually enjoy that as much as I do going out, its a bit like a child playing dress ups. I think its when it starts to impinge on your lifestyle that you have a problem. I blow dry my hair, wear loads of make up, I wash my clothes after every wear. I cut my own hair and I paint my own nails, I pluck my own eyebrows, I shave my legs and armpits I iron my clothes and I like to go out wearing things that go well together, but like I said, I enjoy doing these things.

Nah, I'm not high-maintenance. I've always thought high-maintenance meant more like...girls who need their boyfriends to buy them things all the time and all that sorta jazz. I guess it's also about spending hours getting ready to go places and making sure you look perfect all the time.

I like to look good, but I'm not anal about it. My hair's dreaded, I wear comfortable clothes, I don't need makeup, and I don't demand things from my boyfriend. On the other hand though, when I want to, I can spend time picking out an outfit that I think makes me look hot, or putting on makeup and all that. So whereas I'm definitely not high-maintenance and I'm really laid back, I'm not opposed to makeup and looking good.

As far as high-maintenance girls go though...and I mean the REAL high-maintenance girls who need their nails done all the time and won't do anything fun or dirty because they're afraid of messing up their hair and shit...they can kiss my ass. And as far as tans go...I personally hate when people go to tanning salons. I think they make people look pretty ridiculous a lot of the time. I saw this one girl a few weeks back who had one of those fake "rub-on" tans and she was seriously orange...like oompa-loompa orange. I just...don't get it.

    I shave
    I tease
I give myself facials (with homemade, natural ingredients)
I like to relax in the bath tub

I use to wax, but I find it to be too expensive for the amount of time the results last. I do not wear makeup any longer, nor do I paint my nails.

Sometimes I will go out of my way to find specific products (non-animal tested products seem to be more difficult to find around here). I am also quite health conscience and picky when it comes to the type of food I buy. I get upset when I have to miss the gym. I suppose those aspects alone could be considered slight high maintenance.

Girls that insist on having their boyfriend’s/husband’s pay to get their hair and nails done frequently amuse me. The same goes for women who spend ridiculous amounts of money on makeup and hair care. I also find tanning to be pointless. It is quite sad that people will risk their health to look good.

I' sorry if anything I said offended you nature goddess. I wasn't trying to judge. I do tend to get annoyed with high maintainence girls, but the only one I know literally takes 2 1/2 hours every day to get ready to go anywhere, dresses like a stripper/model, will stop the vehicle she's driving to fix her makeup, I mean, ANYONE of you girls would hate her too. Or at least that part about her. And she doesn't do it because she likes it, it's because she is just plain obsessed with looks and image. It's scary.

So... sorry if anything I said hurt you or anyone else's feelings. It was not my intent. But I still don't beleive any of us girls smell good ALL the time! ;)

I don't do any of that stuff to my body. It is fine the way it was made. Aside from the point that it would change me to do all that, it is too damn much WORK! Also, ain't NO ONE waxing my yoni, not for any reason. The Brazilians approve of this? Damn they should give you a morphine drip for this torturous procedrue. WHY? What is wrong with pubic hair?

    Hmmmm.

I don't think anyone here was attacking you at all. And you are obviously aware that this IS a "hippy" board. I have to ask, in a respectful manner. Isn't what YOU are doing a sterotype of it's own? And Aren't those who you refer to as "slobs" doing what they like as well? :H (
) Just who was doing the attacking here? As for your thinking body hair as "disgusting" Did it occur to you that some hair loving hippies on this board may have taken THAT as an offense? WHY do you find it "disgusting? Might be a good thing to investigate. Just for your own personal peace.

I always wonder when people start threads like this on THIS board and then don't get all supportive "you go girl" responses, and then get upset. Just what were they thinking? This is a hippy free thinking board. If you come here, all fake nailed, and fake tanned and Bikini waxed, that is FINE, but people are gonna say something about it, when you ASK for their opinion.

You are welcome to your High Maintainance time consuming rituals, but most here aren't going to get onboard with that. It doesn't mean that YOU can't do it, if that it what it takes for you to feel good about yourself, though. Others have other things which make them feel good, which do not involve these types of things. No big deal, don't get all defensive. You DID ask for opinoins.

Most here chose NOT to do these things to their bodies. Did you expect a different answer?

After all, why get so hung up on JUST appearances? I am sure there is more to you than that.
