I don't like spending much time on it, I like to use a nice soap or shower gel, 'cause I have to take a shower anyways, but I just rarely if ever take the time to do much else but shower, brush my hair, spray it a bit for volume, and that's it...
I often wear Gothic clothing, long velvet skirts & such, but rarely if ever wear make-up.
Last year I used self-tanning stuff for a while, since I like to have a tan but you keep reading more and more about skin cancer and such... but even that I didn't keep up, just too much of a hassle. I have so many fun things to do, I need more hours in a day if I'm gonna do it all!

Haha. I can understand people taking pride in how they look. It's when people are like barbie dolls and miss out on awesome things because they're afraid they'll break a nail...that's what I hate. And I didn't even say I hated THEM...I said I hated unnatural tans and shit. As far as understanding them goes...I don't care enough to try to understand why people think they look bad. You can go and try to understand...and I'll continue to sit here and not give a shit.

Hahaha...what the fuck? Oh yeah...such an ironic username...'cause ya know, I chose it because I'm such a peaceful person and I never speak my mind. God, I don't even give my username a second thought...so stop wasting your life reading into it as if it's supposed to actually mean something. Fuck off. I didn't say anything bad about anyone in specific. What is it to me if someone is so anal that they won't go and get dirty and have fun because they're afraid they'll mess up their hair? It's actually nothing to me...their loss. But give me a fucking break. People like that piss me off and that's my opinion. And people who take themselves too seriously piss me off. I'm not saying all high-maintenance people are the fucking devil. I'm sure there are plenty of people like that that are wonderful people but happen to have a different outlook on life than I do. When I meet one, I'll let you know.

While my 'artist of peace--irony?' comment was intended as a joke, I genuinely wondered why the ridiculously high-maintenance girls bothered you to the point of you telling them to kiss your ass. For instance, perhaps you knew personally someone like this and it affected your life in a negative way, etc. But other than you telling me to Fuck off, (which i didn't necessarily expect but did indeed brace myself for) I got exactly the reply from you which I had hoped for.

so what if REALLY high maintainence girls bother other people? It IS annoying. Sure, we all live and let live, but that doesn't mean that some of us don't get annoyed about it. Girls who spend too much time on appearence and miss out on life do kinda suck to hang out with if you're one of the chicks who can get ready in the morning, live to feel good all day and clean themsleves up at night. i'm not a dirty person. And spending a little bit of time on how you look is good.

But I simply get annoyed by girls who take it too far. Why am I, and Artist of Peace, wrong in our opinions? It's not like we hunt down beauty queens. We just get annoyed.

youre not wrong, but if it seems petty that you get so irritated by them when they probably dont give your efforts a thought.

It just seems silly to get worked up over someones personal choice about THEIR appearance when it doesnt really even affect you

who's worked up? Someone asked what we thought of girls who are high maintainence. I think they are annoying. Actually, I feel sorry for them more than anything. You miss out on life a lot while looking in the mirror. And I only know 1 high maintainence girl.

I would bet my whole paycheck she would annoy the fuck out of 90% of you girls!! No one here annoys me, I don't know any of you in real life. but the girl I do know is just ridiculous!!

Anyway, i'm not worked up, and I really don't care, but when someone asks me what I think of girls like that, I simply find them annoying and a little bit sad.

but dont you think it has more to do with who she is as a whole that annoys you rather than her fear of being ugly?

no. It's the time she spends in the bathroom ot get ready to go ANYWHERE (even grocery shopping), it's the times she pulls over her car to fix her makeup, it's the times she DOESN'T pull over and almost gets us all into an accident, it's the fact that she won't dance at a show because it might mess up her "look", it the fact that she just can't go for 10 minutes- ever- wihtout checking her self in a mirror, and it's the fact that she can't stand me because I have a lot more fun but I'm less pretty. She doesn't get why. She thinks beauty is THE most important thing. theres ALWAYS something you could do, a little tweak here and there to make yourself look better. But I accept my appearence and get on with LIFE. She hates me because I'm so happy, yet she's not and it's because she wants to look perfect and that should make her happier than me anyday. It's sad. I've tried to tell her she's gorgeous, don't worry about it, have a little fun, get a little dirty, you can clean up later, but with no success.

to sum it up (I reread what I wrote and I don't think I was very clear with my point)

she would be a great person if she didn't care so much about being pretty. But it's ALL she cares about.

The personal attacks will now come to a cease. (Moe, I don't think your posts were attacks at all, but some of the responses to yours were.) Let's refrain from telling other posters to "Fuck off." Personal attacks are grounds for banning. 'Kay?

The thread will be closed if the personal attacks continue. PLEASE read the FAQ for this Forum. Asking the Original Poster why she chose her user name is NOT a personal attack. Calling people names IS!

I find this thread fairly interesting to be honest. Everybody has their own way of keeping their idea of clean. I probably relate humans to other animals a little too much, but i'm afraid that is part of me, being an animal care student :p . But yeah, if you look at all of the animals in the animal kingdom - it is true that the females do preen themselves up a bit (as do the males - a lot!) and generally look after their physical appearance as well as their well being. I believe it is all part of the courtship and mating rituals etc in other animals, and isn't that different to humans too!

The way that people look on life and the people that they associate with, often draws parallels with how they look after or pamper themselves. Some people are drawn to respectful people, others to those who fancy a bit more of a rough and tumble through life.

Personally I shave my armpits (i found that natural deodrant doesn't work on them when the hair grows?) and sometimes wear a mud mask - it feels so good! I also find it very hard to get out of the habit of wearing deodrant. I want to get out of the habit, but it's ever so harrd...

    Big Love

Hey all. Wanted to reply back to my post earlier. I was not asking for advice or approval, I was asking what you guys have tried or like to do as far as "grooming" at the next level. Also, just because that isn't the popular viewpoint for this site doesn't mean there aren't plenty of people that have tried those things on here. Plenty of people on here aren't hippies. I didn't expect this to be such a hot topic. Girls are girls regardless, and we all like to feel good & extra happy about ourselves. When we think we look good , we feel better so. :)

I don't think anyone directly attacked you, Moe. But someone did tell someone else to "Fuck off" (Not you, though.) But people seemed to get upset that you expressed you opinions about your freind who is way too high maintainence. (I hate this too, I am like "LET'S GO!") You didn't do anything wrong, Moe.

Yes, you have every right to express your opinions on the subject, and you are right, there are people who will agree with you. But don't get upset whem people don't agree. I think being in the minority is fine, but just don't get mad at the people who think these types of self high maintainence rituals aren't neccesary. It is YOUR body, and your right to treat it however you like.

We all (mostly) want to be nice looking. But one's interpretation of "nice looking" can really vary among people. Some one is not a "slob" because they have their own nails or their own skin color, or their own body hair. That was my main point.

I like to think Im pretty low maintenance. Not sure others here will agree though. :& I shower and moisturise every single day, wash my hair 2-3 times a week, pluck my eyebrows, shave my legs and underarms. I do my own manicures and pedicures. Sometimes I use a face/body scrub or mask, and a deep conditioner. The longest time I'll spend is on drying my hair - I have to blow dry it straight with lots of product becuase its so long and frizzy. Makes a big difference! I wear makeup everyday, but not much - eyeliner, mascara, concealer (I have dark eye circles) and a lipstick/pencil/gloss/whichever on my mouth. Pretty much the same makeup every day. Thats it.

It may sound like high maintenance, but I consider it basic. I don't use expensive products - cheap ones like Avon (which is vastly underrated IMO) and Boots (in the UK), are really good, but sometimes I'll blow the budget on a fancy hair product.

I have my routine down to a fine art; takes me next to no time in the mornings.
So why then, am I still ALWAYS late for work?? :p
